How activate the webcam on a gateway nv54 laptop

Unfortunately there isnt much you can do, the only real solution that has ever been known to work is to completely drain the battery (I mean keep trying to turn it on even after its died, many many times) and then put in on charge for 8hrs.
Other than that, regardless of what people say, there isnt much else you can do. And I wouldnt put too much faith in any tests these techs have run, its almost impossible to really see what state the battery cells are in.
For future reference, when you are using your laptop plugged into the mains, take the battery out, that wil help prolong its life, and never let it get too hot or charge it longer than it needs (can bend the cell walls)

click fn + 6 and it will turn on

All them are pretty basically the same. Pull out power cord and battery... Remove the bezel piece top of the keyboard "the thing the power button sits in". When you remove it there should be 2 screws very tiny holding the keyboard down remove them. Under the keyboard there will be the power ribbon DO NOT JUST PULL IT OUT!! There will be like a brown/white clip that locks the ribbon to the board. The brown may be black or even blue that is the locking piece. Carefully lift the clip up and gently pull the ribbon out. If its stuck you have not unlocked it. Pull the old keyboard out and repeat the steps backwards.
