How to unlock a photo in camara

The protect function allows a user to protect a picture from accidental deletion. To unprotect a picture on your camera, scroll to the protected picture that you want to delete, then press the Menu button (the button to the right of the Play button.) Scroll down the menu and you should come to an option that allows you to Protect/Unprotect the picture. Since your picture is currently protected, deselect that option. You should then be able to delete the picture normally.

Alternatively, you could also format the memory card, however this deletes ALL photos and data you have on the memory card. If you are trying to completely clear the memory, this is the best way. After turning on your camera, simply press the Menu button, scroll to Setup, then scroll down to Format. Select Format, it will ask you if you want to format the memory card, or the camera's built-in memory. Format whichever one you want to clear, if you are using a memory card then your pictures are stored on the memory card. It will take a few seconds to format.

Hope this helps.

Please describe your how do i delete write protected file in my sony digital camera problem, bcoz i am able to delete some photos from my camera

You should be formatting the camera memory card not deleting. When you first get a memory card or upgrading to a new memory card it needs to be initialized meaning formatted. To clean the memory card of pictures you need to format the memory card. Your owners manual will instruct you on how to do this. Sony makes a lot of different models you didn't state which model camera but they all have a format mode. Happy Holidays from Canada

Look at the memory card. SD cards have a slide switch along one edge. The position farthest from the contacts locks the card, protecting it from writes. The position nearest the contacts unlocks the card.

To delete all or just one of the pics on the memory card -- go to the play mode and use the Q Menu on the very bottom right -- you can select your choice from there.

In play you can also go to Menu and Protection and select if you want all or one photo protected.

Hope that helps!
Took me a while to figure it out!

Memory card is write protected

Take your memory card out of the camera and switch the position of the little "lock" tab. That should fix it and you can start saving images.

What do I do? It says... memory card is protected. I can't take photos or delete. :/

Some SD cards have a tiny "write protect" switch on the side. Might you have knowcked that? I would try taking the card out & seeing if you have one.

Otherwise, you can always look for the manual on the manufacturer's web site:

Locked Camera

The memory card has a yellow tab on it. Remove the memory card from the camera and just slide the tab and re-insert the card. That should work.
