I don't have a 7040 to refer to, but if it has bold it will be a key that says bold, akey with bold on the face of it, or bold written above the key. The last 2 will require pressing the code key plus that key.
There is no bold feature on a WW3 you must upgrade to a WW 10 or 15 to get bold. There was at one time a bold printwheel but I haven't seenone for years.
There should be either a mode or code key that you need to hold down while you are pressing the bold key. You should the see a little arrow light up under the bold function on the display if you do it correctly.
