Question about General Electric WDSR2120J Top Load Washer

1 Answer

We have a GE top load washer with the model number WDSR2120J. It new (almost 13 months old so the warranty has just expired.) When we turn it on, it won't stop filling up when it is full. Bubbles then come up by the agitator and the water starts flowing out of the bottom. I'm guessing there is something wrong with a sensor, but I have no clue how to fix it or what to do. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hello Friend, You either have a bad water level/pressure switch or your water inlet valve is bad. If you unplug the washer from the wall and the water stops filling into the washer, then it's not the water inlet valve. If it only continues to fill when wash cycle is started then you will need to replace the water level/pressure switch behind control panel. Also, the pressure supply tube connected to water level/pressure switch may have a hole in it or a bad connection, or possibly plugged up. This rubber tube must have an airtight seal at both ends to perform properly. be sure to check this item also. Happy to help, Tim.

Have a 6 mounth old top loader washer GE and the spin will not work

A six month old washer should be under warranty. Did you register the product and do you have your receipt? I would call the place where you purchased it first and see what they have to say.

GE WDSR2120J wash cycle sound

It's possible that the tub suspension system is out of position. Open the cabinet top (use a thin putty knife in each front corner to release a spring clip) and watch the mechanism while washing. Try shaking the assembly to see if you can spot something rubbing. Hope this helps!

How do you remove the front panel on a ge model wdsr2120j5ww

Use a small putty knife. Put the putty knife in between the front panel and the top about 3 inches in on the left and right side. You will be inserting it straight in toward the washer and this will release 2 clips and allow the panel to rock towards you. Note some pressure must be applied and will not always release easily. Once the panel rocks toward you there will be 2 clips on the bottom. Just pull off of the clips and you are done. To reassemble allign the panel with the bottom clips and push the top back in, again with a little pressure.

Oil on floor under washer

Oil is generally not a good sign. It means that the tranny seal is blown OR it means that the tub seal is bad which allows water to enter the tranny (water is heavier than oil... if water gets into the tranny it will displace the oil and force the oil out)

This being a GE? I'd wager that a tranny job is in order. If the machine is less than 5 years old it's under warranty so you'd call GE at 1-800-GE CARES. If it's more than 5 years old? Your washer is no more than a boat anchor. Get a new washer, preferably a Whirlpool. The repair cost for a new tranny will out-weigh the value of the machine.

Hope this helps.
