Question about KitchenAid KUDS01FKSS Dishwasher
DISHWASHER IS USED VERY LITTLE, AND IS IN AN OUTDOOR OPEN AIR ROOFED CABANNA. IT HASN'T BEEN USED FOR ABOUT A YEAR. WHEN YOU OPEN THE DOOR THE RINSE ONLY GREEN LIGHT BLINKS ON AND OFF, ALONG WITH THE CANCEL GREEN LIGHT THAT ALSO BLINKS AT THE SAME TIME. PRESSING ANY OTHER BUTTON WILL NOT CHANGE THE LIGHTS BLINKING ON RINSE AND CANCEL AT THE SAME TIME. I HAVE TRIED SHUTTING OFF POWER TO SEE IF THE DISHWASHER WOULD RESET, ALL LIGHTS STOP BLINKING, BUT AS SOON AS YOU PRESS WASH AND START, THE LIGHTS START TO FLASH ON THE RINSE AND CANCEL LIGHT ON THE DOOR. CAN YOU HELP ME?
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

My guess is that the foil that the buttons are mounted to is defective. The control module "reads" the buttons that are pushed by the fact that the resistance between two pins on the circuitboard becomes zero ie. your pushing the button shorts out two pins. the foil could have moistire damage or the resiistance of the tracks could be too high. Solution for both would be to replace the control panel button foil.

about the only thing to try would be to remove the inner door panel to get to the control bd then you will see a mylar ribbon looks like a fat piece of scotch tape pull up on the plastic connector that holds it in and pull the ribbon out then get a clean pencil eraser and gently clean the ribbon and put it back in dont forget to push the locking tab back down then try it again and let me know

Try this solution first
Push the Hi-temp and then push the Sani-rinse. Go back and forth multiple times on these two buttons. I found that after a handfull of pushes that a "1" came up on the display. I continued to keep rotating the two buttons and then a "2" came up on the display and the dishwater started it's "drain" phase. I then hit cancel to clear and then I selected the cycle I wanted. The washer started up just as normal at this point.

ok well usually it is not sensing a temperature change in the water or not getting hot enough. so you can reset the dishwasher and try running the hot water in the sink before starting the dishwasher. if it fails again there is a heating element and control board kit that would need to be installed. you can reset the dishwasher by pushing "high temp wash" and "heated dry" back and forth until all the lights light up then you can hit the cancel and drain button twice.. put detergent in and run it.

This blinking indicates the water did not heat up properly in the heated wash part of the cycle. I have put together some instructions on resetting the control so you can use the machine and some details on why it might have happened. Follow the link and if you have any trouble let me know.
