Question about Heating & Cooling

1 Answer

My air conditioner isn't cooling, instead it is blowing out hot air. I changed the filter and it still doesn't seem to work. Any help is appreciated.

Check your condenser. if you cannot feel hot air out of it then the refrigerant is low. Check your fans. Clean your coils. Check your Capacitor

My 1999 Chevy Malibu runs hot? It started when it overheated. We changed the thermostat, then water pump, then temp sensor gauge and the temp gauge goes high but only when the heater stops blowing hot...

Air pockets will make the guage do that, and also cause your heat to come and go. Also, a poor radiator, as in rotting, or plugged up, will cause high temperature issues.

There are a few things you can try.Close the vents half way in rooms your not using often too force more air to where you want it.

Inside coil and filter may be clogged or dirty.Change filter and clean coil with a degreaser spray, simple green works well mixed with water.

Thermostat location? is it in a common area like the living room.If not it should be there.

No Cold Air

it sounds as though the compressor is stalled or seized. if its seized a new will be required! If its stalled it may be down to a failed capacitor, if you have a voltmeter test for voltage at the compressor.

When shutting off leave it off for a good 24 hrs

All the best

If you have 24 + volts between common and w or w2 when your thermostat is calling for heat, you might have a or a couple of defective heat relays or sequencers.
