V2000 (2710US) shutting down randomly

Compaq V2710us shuts down randomly with a loud "click" OR screen goes blank and PC cannot be revived w/o holding down the power button til shuts down and then re-booted.

Not consistent in lenght of time between start and failure. I have cleaned heatsink/fan [there was dust/dirt] replaced heat sink and used heat sink compound [silicon/zink oxide Radio Shack brand...any better to use?] [according to another post, I may have used too much...will try lesser amount].

Also replaced mother board.

HP/Compaq is recommending BIOS upgrade and then HDD check...but unit doesn't stay up long enough to do. "BIOS upgrade interuptus" doesn't sound like a good idea!

Thanx, Ray

Hi Ray, with the clicking noise that preceeds everything or just the screen going blank, honestly that would tell me that the hard drive is going bad on you. If you can get a known good working hard drive in that system, I would go that route and see if the symptoms still keep happening. Try that and let me know. Ben

Try to use other hard disk. if it works on your machine then your OS is corrupted. You might need to reformat your hard disk.

Before reformatting your hard drive safe all the files first because everything will be deleted.

IPhone 4S shuts off randomly.

download itools get the latest one in the software there is system check crash report have a look on that it will tell you everything your phone is not doing, also when you install a new battery make sure the battery is flat, the screen should of come up with red line some batteries have charge in them and this can confuse the phone, another thing you can do is backup phone and do dfu setup, ios 8 sometimes has a problem and will need to be reinstalled new only do this in dfu mode, connect phone to pc etc and hold down the power button and home when the screen goes blank count to 6 seconds and then release the power button but hold down the home button for about 10 seconds or longer or until you hear the pc beep and install the dfu drivers. itunes will say that the phone needs updating do that, when finished don't do the setup , leave it for a few minutes then turn off phone leave off for 6 seconds then turn back on and continue with the setup it should be fine then, failing this and it still does this then the charging chip needs to be replaced, this is not a job for the layman need to be done professionally. hope this helps.

Random shut off. Sounds like a relay click.

Could be due to getting too hot! Do you have it clear from any walls and or other PC products? If so give it some room to breath!! I have had my New Asus gaming tower turn off on me due to it getting too warm.

How do I reset windsong

Click the Start button at the bottom left of your screen, click the arrow next to the Shut Down button, and then click Restart. If you are unable to do this, hold your power button until your screen goes blank, wait 30 seconds, then power your computer back on.

Its stuck on a update when i shut it down and i turn it on its still on tht update and doesnt let me do anything

You're not really turning it off.
You're putting it into standby mode.
Press and hold the power botton down until the screen goes blank.
Once it has shut down completely, press the power button as usual and it should start up.

Loud click sounds like either a short or overload, causing ground default. recheck inside for any loose connections anything grounding out the motherboard.
