Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop Jet Black (15.4" Wide Screen with true life, built-in Webcam, Intel Pentiu... PC Notebook

1 Answer

Startup errors I recently started having issues with my Inspiron 1525 with Vista Home Premium. I start it up, and I get issues. I can not get any screen but a blue screen that states windows has been shut down. I have gone to f8 and get the f8 screen, but any option I choose from it, (repair computer, safe mode, last known configuration) I go right back to the blue screen. It stays there, and I have to do a hard shutdown by holding the power button. I can't even hit repair computer to get the option to reformat. Nothing in f2 or f12 seems to be helpful ither. Any suggestions?

Sounds like the hard drive might be going bad on you. Are you hearing any clicking sounds from the hard drive when it locks up on you?

Does sound like a Hard Drive failure. I would suggest getting it **** checke, but you can't because of your circumstance to fix any errors or corrupted files on there.

So, here are a few things you could do.

Take it to a local Computer shop, have them remove the HDD, extract what data you need and if they can, and replace it with a new one.

Take it to a local Computer shop, and have them remove the HDD and try to reformat it. - It might work if the files are corrupted, but the actual HDD it self is fine.

When it's a Hard Drive, there's not much you can do when it fails. That is why you always back it up.

There would be no other solutions available, so good luck mate!

I have an inperion 1525 and after i reinstalled windows vista home premium, the internal speakers stopped working

It sounds like a driver issue. Go to http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs and enter your service tag. It should give you a list of available drivers for your system. Make sure that it specifies Windows Vista in the drop down menu. Check for audio drivers and install the most recent one.

This sounds like the dreaded Windows Vista Black Screen of Death (KSOD). you might have a bad hard drive, but even more likely some software or a driver is causing a problem and caused Vista to get stuck. The repair will not work. You might be able to run a complete repair from the Windows Vista CD, if you have one. If you are not too experienced, take it to a reputable computer service center. If you are at all technical and have time, google your problem and you will see thousands of similar users with same problems.

This is one reason Microsoft released Windows 7 so soon.

My dell inspiron 1525 webcam wont work with yahoo messenger

This is happening because the Dell webcam central is accessing the webcam at the same time as yahoo messenger. Click on start and click on Run(XP), Type MSCONFIG in start search (Vista) and you'll get the system configuration utility. Open it and go to the startup tab. Uncheck anything related to Dell webcam. Click on Apply and OK and restart the computer. If yahoo messenger shows a black screen uninstall Yahoo messenger and reinstall with the more recent version.

Dell inspiron 1525 w/ Vista 32 will not hibernate

Hibernate issues are generally an issue with the Video driver. Try the following: Update to the latest list of drivers from support.dell.com BIOS Video Driver see if the issue is resolved. If not, then try editing the startup group of MSCONFIG and see if an item running at startup is causing the issue. (Start, RUN, MSCONFIG, OK to open MSCONFIG)

My windows can't check for updates (windows vista home premium). it's showing error code 80244019

Press Win+R, type 'services.msc' and press Enter. Respond to the UAC prompt. Check that Background Intelligent Transfer Service is started and its startup type is 'Automatic.' (It can also be Automatic (Delayed Start).) If it is not started, right-click on it and select Start. Scroll down to Windows Update to make sure that it is started and it startup type is 'Automatic' or 'Automatic (Delayed Start).' If it is not started, right-click on it and select Start. If you had to start either service, try to run Windows Update again by clicking on Start -> All Programs -> Windows Update.
