Need instructions (by 2 users)

bought a Cheap watch, minicci, through payless shoes. The face has three separate circles for the day,month, and year. However, can't see a way to set. When I pull out the side piece to set all i can do is the time. I tried to pull the pin half way out like my seiko but that doesn't work. Is the calendar parts only for show? That doesn't make sense to me. Sorry don't know watch lingo! thank You, Stacy
