To increase the ice production you should set the freezer to a colder set point.

The ice maker freezes up and doesn't produce ice. It caused a backup of water which flooded the floor. We replaced the connecting hose and the symptoms have remained the same....no flooding but also no...

Replace the dual water control valve is the only solution to fix this problem. Once the water control begins to leak slowly to the ice maker water goes everywhere but the correct place. The next step is to locate your model number=> Locating Model and Serial Numbers I will be glad to assist you if you have any questions, Thanks, Sea Breeze

My ice maker is making ice but very slowly. I have checked the water line to make sure water is flowing and that the line at the ice maker is not blocked in any way. Could it be a faulty selenoid switch?

for how long very slowly?in every 2 hour the water become ice but the ice produce in your ice maker is maximum of 15 pcs small cubes, its means depend on the tray if is big or small. if you use your ice in every 30minute or your family is using an ice by 1bottle its means the ice produce is not enougth for your family.and the tray becomes empty after you use at the same time. but if the unit is hard to make an ice or frozen your frezer side its the unit is have a problem but is not to easy to repair by if your self coz the part inside is hard to remove.

Whirlpool side by side GS5SHAXN. Ice maker slowly died.

Hi agcruiser;
Have your change your water filter lately?
If not try that, as it may be starting to block up a little.
Another problem could be the water inlet valve(Ice Side) situated at bottom of fridge, that could be starting to wear (Can interchange with water side inlet valve). Yes there are 2- 1 for ice and 1 for water
The Whirlpools Ice Michine set up is very easy, and runs by a mechanical system, they can be tested (Use a qualified tech).
Cheers hope this helps

My ice maker produces ice with white flakes in it, and slowly.

If you also get the flakes with the water from the water dispenser it could be the water chiller reservoir behind the crisper in the fridge. If it's just the ice maker the non stick surface in the ice mold may be coming loose.

Ice maker not making ice. do have water, no ice

The ice maker has a problem The ice maker is a separate appliance within the freezer section. Please see the How things Work section of our website to learn about the normal functioning of ice makers. Some common problems with ice makers are:

The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice
The ice maker is producing ice poorly
The ice maker has completely stopped producing ice Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on. On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice. Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

The ice maker is producing ice poorly When an ice maker is producing ice poorly--when it produces just a few cubes or none, or when the cubes are too small--it's usually because of a clogged water line or a defective water inlet valve.

First, check the water line attached to the back of the refrigerator for good water flow. To do that, first turn off the water supply valve. Then remove the water line from the back of the refrigerator. Next, place the water line into a bucket and momentarily turn the water valve back on to test the flow. If the flow is poor, you need to repair, clean, or replace the tubing or the shut-off valve that supplies the water. If the flow is good, you may have to replace the water inlet valve.

Not producing much ice

It should produce about 8 cubes every 2 hours , there is a small door to get to the ice bin make sure it stays closed , If you still have issues you may be expeirencing the begining of a cooling problem.

There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repair
