Is your Viscount an older metal mechanical machine? If so, it could be seizing because it needs cleaning and oiling If it is a computerized machine, do NOT follow these oiling instructions!!
Does the light come on? If the motor will increase and decrease in speed as you push the foot control the belt is broken. You need to check to see if the hand wheel is locked after using the bobbin winder. This is your second possibility.
Is it a push in and twist bulb? Or a screw in bulbs like the old Holiday lights? Both can be had in the states but we have different power voltage.
I looked at your manual from Brother's download and it looks to me like it's a push and twist (some folks call it bayonete style) but I can't tell for sure.
Here is a UK source... once you determine which bulb... these folks should have it for you.
check the bobbin winder if it is pushed in to the winding position it wont sew no matter what elseyou do. Do you have the manual if so in the back there should be a phone number to call for a technician to assist you
