White light when plug into computer, manually it do not come on

I have a TomTom 510 GPS, the problem is when connected to the charger or computer it gives me a white screen. It will not connect to the computer. I've already tried to reset and uninstall it to do a reinstall but in order to do that it would need to connect and that is not happening. Manually it will not turn on. My warranty is out, had it since 2006. Is it repairable? Can you suggest anything?

My tomtom go 510 will not charge in car but ok at home

The Car chargers are generally the defective unit.
I have also faced a similar issue as the spring loaded cigarette lighter was pushing the charger causing it to disconnect.

My Tomtom 510 will not switch on

You may need a new battery as yours may be completly dead. To test this, plug it into the charger and see if it comes on. If it does, then all you will need is a new battery which are pretty cheap to replace. If it still does not come on, you may have to send it to a repair place to be fixed.

I lost the dock that connects to the computer

Your only option is to purchase another Home dock for your TomTom GO 510. The 510, 710, and 910 all use the same dock. The cheapest place to purchase a home dock is ebay. The answer to the second part of your question is no, you cannot purchase a usb cable to connect your TomTom GO 710 to your pc. The TomTom GO series uses a proprietary dock.

Frozen tomtom

You can get your original splash scren from here. You can also download free splash screens created by user through TomTom HOME.

To correct your device, try:

1. Hit the reset button on the back of the device - inside the serial connector.
2. Make sure the device is off and connect it to your computer via USB dock and connect the charging cable (green light should be on)
3. Hold down the power button until the device restarts.
4. The device should automatically connect to your computer.
5. Run TomTom HOME and check for any updates.
6. If there is no new application, try: www.tomtom.com/9091 <-- that will show you how to remove and then reinstall the application.

TomTom 510 Sat Nav

Most likey its not worth fixing. Look at it like this. While it may have only been 6 volts versus 5. One volt in a 5 volt system is a 20 percent increase.
If you took something that ran on 120 volts and plugged it into a 144 volt source you can figure the damage that would do.

Will not take a charge

I have just the same problem. Initially the battery was flashing to say that it was low on charge even when it was plugged in, then it flashed that the battery was empty and switched itself off. When plugged in the green light comes on, but still cannot turn TomTom 710 on. Also it will not connect to the computer.
