Question about Vizio SV470XVT 47 in. LCD TV

1 Answer

I've got sound and back lights, but no video. (ie. the menus won't even show up) The screen started flickering then faded to a grey/black before reverting to black.

It started flickering yesterday after about two hours of operation. Then went to gray. At that point, cycling power to the unit seemed to help. Today it comes on and I get sound and the backlights, but the LCD panel never responds in any fashion (no flickering, just black).

The TV does not go into standby, either. I was thinking that it was the PC Board or LCD Interface. The tuner itself seems to be working since I do get sound.

I checked and reseated the cabling between the main board and PC board and between the PC board and LCD board. The cabling looks fine in both cases. Not sure which board of the two is more likely to be dead though, and I don't know how to test them.

I've ordered the PC Board, hopefully that fixes my issue.

Hi,
Sounds problem with Main Board of Vizio SV470XVT LCD TV
Let me know is that problem occurred suddenly or gradually with TV and does TV go to standby automatically as protection?
Seems main board will be replaced to solve that issue.
Check Shop Jimmy for main board availability as its out of stock currently.
Thanks.

    Thanks for feedback.
TV does not go to standby itself shows main board and backlight inverter boards seems OK.
Please check LCD Controller board wire coming from main board and maybe 3-4 flexible wires coming from LCD Panel need to be checked.
LCD Controller board is located at top center on back side of LCD Panel and covered with metal shield.
    Thanks.

    One more suggestion,
Unplug TV from AC outlet for couple of minutes, replug back in, power it up and check.
Does TV respond on remote properly, I mean can you change channels on TV and change volume control with remote?
    Thanks.

Suspected board is that giving video signal to LCD Controller board. Follow cable going from LCD Controller board.

These boards can be swapped to test/ check. these are not recommended by manufacturer to repair it on component level nor spare parts are available any where if you find out any bad transistor or IC chip in board.

    Thanks.

My Hp notebook screen is black, sometimes it fades in and out black to grey then to black.how can i fix it

Connect your laptop to an external monitor and switch to monitor. If the external monitor shows the desktop, then the complaint is in the lcd/led display unit means the screen. Replace the screen. If the external monitor also shows the complaint, then it is normally due the mch(media controller hub) . It comes as separate card unit in some models and onboard for some other models.Only an experienced technician can solve that issue. In some rare cases it is due to a corrupted BIOS. Reply if this helped you.

HP Pavilion g series g7 black screen but occasion flicker shows it is up and running.

Hook a spare monitor to the video output usually on the back, if picture is okay! the problem lies in the inverter board, "just below the screen" or the backlight behind the LCD display, or the video cable from the screen to the motherboard has come loose from the plugin. But if both show the same symptom it means the Video Graphics Card is defective, normally built into the motherboard.

Flickering Screen/Faded Colors

It sounds like a problem with the video card, whether it be on-board or a card. See if you or a friend has a spare one laying around and try that one instead. If it's not the video card, try a different monitor.
