we are having an issue with the brightness and color quality of our philips mangovox (pt # 8p6034c101).... its been assumed tha due to the age of the tv, we may need new bulbs... but we have been unable to find further information on where we would be able to get the bulbs (part #s for said bulbs would also be helpful) and/ or any other parts we may need.... please assist.... thanks :)

SOURCE: BIG TROUBLE with my 52" Phillips Magnavox Rear Projection Tv, HELP!!

It sounds like the 3 "GUNS" are not aligned.
One the controls at the bottom, left hand side You will see an arrow pointing to the first 2 on the left.
That will allow you to scroll down the list of options until you see....CONVERGANCE!
make the red gun center by using the up/down arrows on right. Then add the next 2 until you see a white X or cross.
Thats it!

SOURCE: My 2001 60inch Philips Magnavox

It is the coolant that has allergy growing in the blue and green guns, it will not grow in the red gun. If you have the coolant change it will look just like a new TV, right now the video is being block, and kind of on the greenish looking. It should run about two to have the coolant changed in the guns (CRTs).

Problem with the Philips Magnavox 9P6034C 60 in. Rear Projection Television, had TV for 16 years. Picture gradually got darker and less clairity

the projection tubes do wear out over time and there is no fix but to replace them. you might first check to make sure the lenses and mirror are clean, do not use compressed air to clean as you may force dust between the lenses. if the picture is darker at the edges or a different hue then the coolant is likely contaminated and needs changed

Picture getting darker

first thing i would look at is it is probabily dust on the lences and miror, you need to take the screws out all the way arount the screen from the back, then lean the screen out tward you from the front, do this while the tv is on, you will be able to see the dust alot better, take a soft cloth and glass cleaner and clean little miror, and lences

Screen is getting darker

The most likely cause is the blue and green tubes need to have the cooling fluid changed. After many years the blue and green get clouded with algae. The red tube won't have the problem due to the red spectrum kills the algae before it has time to grow.

The way to replace the fluid for is to completely remove each CRT from the set, remove the drain plug, drain the fluid out the tube, disassemble the lens, give it a good cleaning; then reassemble; add fluid; and reinstall in set. If you check with the site www.TvRepairKits.com they are working on a kit that includes the fluid and photo instruction guide.
