Question about Samsung HP-R4262 42 in. Plasma Television

1 Answer

Samsung Plasma TV

Hello, I have a 50" Samsung Plasma. In the last couple of weeks, I've noticed millions of blue, red and green dots "raining" all over the picture. If the picture is small (with black strips on the side) the blue, red and green dots do not show up on the black, only on the picture.

This happens with cable, HD channels and DVDs.

The only thing we've changed is our home theater system.

Thank you!

Re: Samsung Plasma TV

From the model number you have a 42" set,,the v_set and v_scan voltages need to be set 15vdc lower..this should take care of it,,if not then the plasma panel is bad

When using component cables(red, green, blue )

The series of the cable should go green red blue into the back. if you put the green in the red and the red into the green it give the TV a red base to go off of for the picture so everything is red. The reason the green cable won't is because it transmits a black and white picture which allows it a nice base to add the green and red to.

Samsung Plasma TV

I have this problem too. I have had a technician over to service it twice already and I picked up on a few things he did to fix it. Here is what I learned. the raining pixels has to do with the timing in the circuit boards. Basically telling them when to turn on and off. I would only recomend this solution if you are technically inclined. Remove the back from your tv on the left upper quadrant you should see a small gray dial with marks that a Philips screw driver would fit it. There are three or four of these on the boards scatter across the tv. Each on corresponds to the colors firing in sequence. Take your Philips and turn it to either extream. You should see a your screen go crazy with whatever color corresponds to the dial. Then ever so slowly turn the dial undtil you don't see any more flickering. Do that with each dial and you should be able to get rid of most of the flickering. on the right side of the there is a panel underneath the support bar with orange adjuster. I don't know what they do but they also help reduce the flickering. A word of caution. If you can use something non metallic to adjust these dials. There is a small metal lip to keep the dial from turning too far. If your screw driver touches it. It will fry the dial and your screen will blink red/yellow or blue. and you will have to buy a new board. Luckily they are only about 30 bucks, but I learned the hard way.

Red Dots

You can get rid of the red dots by adjusting the V-scan voltage down, it's on the panel sticker inside the unit, you can find the test point on the DC to DC pcb, and the adjustment pot is on the same board, lower it as you watch the screen and only lower it enough to rid the screen of the dots

I tech came by and took my TV to the shop, a few days later he said it was fixed as they needed to make some adjustments.....The TV has been fine up until a week or so ago and now the red dots have appeared again.
