Windows vista will not recognize my flash drive

I purchased a new 4gb flash drive off Ebay (the package was Sony Vaio), and my new HP PC w/Vista does not recognize it. I called HP support and they didn't know what to do except try the Sony site. I did, and that didn't work either.

I put the flash drive in another computer with XP and it worked in that one. It did show there was something on the brand new flash drive, so I formatted it to clear it (I've heard sometimes there is some sort of spyware that collects email addresses on new items, it happened to a guy at work). Then I tried it on my Vista and it still doesn't work. I think Vista has a lot of quirks that need to be fixed. ~ khalicoe

    HI,

I have a new Sony Vaio laptop which does not recognize my Sony flashdrive, both bought from a Sony Style store.

It does recognize my external hard drive but when I plug in my flash drive it looks for drivers online and does not find any.

I run on Vista business, when I plug it into my friends laptop which runs on Vista ultimate it works !!!!

Any idea what it could be ???

    Thanks,

    GMH

you will need to reinstall the drivers for the Sony Vaio once again so that the DVD drive is detected and set.
So please check for drivers for Sony Vaio from this link:

Sony webcam no longer works with windows 7

1. The drivers for this Web camera may not be developed for Windows 7 64 bit by the manufacturer.
You will either have to purchase a new camera to be compatible with Windows 7 or Vista 64.
This is also true for your SD card reader.

My Sony VAIO VGN-N325E notebook came pre-installed with Windows Vista Home Edition. My question: If I wanted to replace the onboard 320gb hard drive would I have to purchase another copy of Windows Vista ?

Just use one of the cloning disk tools (Norton Ghost, Acronis e.t.c.) to make a copy from the one you have to the new one. Google for a program. I suggest you Acronis but it's not free.

DRIVERS CAN NOT BE RECOGNIZED

Most Vaio drivers are not included in Windows Vista so you must install them manually. Download those drivers from http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/select-system.pl?DIRECTOR=DRIVER
