Ice maker freeze ice together

Most icemakers have a low voltage defrosting element wrapped around the ice shute to prevent the ice from freezing and jamming up. Carefully have a look for any disconnected wires or damage to the heating element. If the ice is getting "glued" together in the ice box itself, its likely that the water tray is overfilling and causing water to run down into the ice box. When it freezes, it freezes all the ice blocks together. In this case, you may need a new ice maker tray or ice maker water valve.

Amana SXD22S2W refrigerators are made by Whirlpool and what you have happening is common with a couple possibilities. Most likely the W10245167 Water Inlet Valve is not shutting off after the fill time of about 7.5 seconds. If this is happening the water will slowly fill the ice maker tray above the lever that it should and causes the ice to connect together on the top thus not allowing the cubes to be harvested because they are basically welded together as a whole piece. And the other possibility is the ice maker itself is needing an adjustment of the water flow time. Below I will post a Icemaker Repair video telling how to adjust the time and other things to look for. This is possible but most times not always the case. Adjusting the flow time is delicate and a little change can cause too much or not enough water. Lets watch the icemaker a little closer and see if there is ice freezing up in the fill tube behind the ice maker. The water inlet valve on the back of unit opens when the ice maker needs water. If the valve doesn't seal good because of sediment or wear it will continue to drip and when the water reaches the ice maker supply tube it will freeze. You can take the water line off the valve and watch to see if it drips.
Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

do you see alot of frost on the rear panel of the frzer if so it has failed to defrost and repair is req or do a manual defrost until a tech can get to you if no frost sorry sounds like you have a weak tired compressor or leak of freon and being 30 yrs old it is not cost effective to repair this item....

I have had a similar problem several times. What I have found is that the ice tray coating has begun to flake off. Then, the ice sticks or partially dumps. Next more ice builds up and when the valve opens the water runs over the partially emptied tray and spills into the bin making "icebergs". The remedy is to replace the tray or if that is not possible, then, the whole icemaker. In fact, I have one down stairs to put in tomorrow. They don't seem to last more than about 4 years or so.

If it is only the fill tube that is freezing up, or getting full of ice, than your water valve is leaking (letting drops of water thru to your ice maker and filling the icemaker fill tube up and freezing). If this is the case, replace the dual water valve (part # 1071263) located in the back of the refrigerator, just follow the water line from your wall into the refrigerator. Make sure you turn off the water to the refrigerator and also unplug it. The dual water valve is the one that has two water lines, one going to the icemaker and one going to the water dispenser. On this model, I think you only have one water valve. On some you have two, the primary water valve and a secondary water valve (the dual valve). If this is your case, I would highly recommend you replace both. As far as the Refrigerator side freezing things up, I think that is a whole different issue. Please post back.
