Sounds like you have the wrong part. Try to avoid store brand fans.

SOURCE: Trying to replace 3 speed ceiling fan switch

Hello,

The black goes to the L connection the others are a guess. You can do this two ways. Connect the colored wires in any sequence and then see what switch sequence give you high and lowest, the other one will be medium. Once you determine that, mark the wires with a piece of masking tape as high, medium and low. Otherwise you connect them, turn power on and use a multimeter to see which color gives you the highest voltage and which gives you lowest. Since you aren't comfortable using live wires and a meter, go with the first option and use the process of elimination to find the wires giving you the speeds you need to find the highest and lowest. Next, you need to determine how your switch sequence works. First pull has to give you highest speed. so you may end up wiring them in reverse if your first attempt is backwards. There is a reason the first pull needs to be highest, it powers up the motor so you can then chose a lower setting. A low setting first will over tax your motor and wear it out eventually as it has to work harder at first.

Let me know if you need further clarification and perhaps this is all you need to get fixed.

Regards,
Worldvet
ps I checked on the Internet of a wiring diagram and I bet you did tok all to no avail.

Harbor Breeze Clarksville ceiling fan troubleshoot.

My answer Edited 7th October 2023 as the website links mentioned back in July 2022 now fail. This new link states Harbor Breeze is an exclusive Lowes product now, not sure it it was before, but they are also sold at Home Depot.

https://harbor-breeze.pissedconsumer.com/customer-service.html

There are a number of copycat and deceptive websites mentioned in this question, and I deleted one Answer that was purely and advertising click thru site and nothing more than that, with no support information at all.

Do your homework check the small print.

This website is helpful but not Harbor Breeze support.

How do I connect the purple, brown, grey and black wires to a harbor breeze fan?

Try this; Purple - 3
Brown - 2
Gray - 1
Black - L
If this doesn't work you probably have the wrong switch. Just because they look the same on the outside doesn't mean they're the same on the inside!

Westinghouse 3speed fan switch 77288

It's the westinghouse switch. Many results on search. I just wasted 2 hours playing switching wires all combos. Others suggested the switch from Lowe's. Harbor breeze #0033905 . Plug wires back in as you listed Black L, Grey 1, Brown 2, Purple 3. Works perfectly for $3.98 plus tax.

Others said you can call Hampton Bay and get the replacement also.

Since that is a low-end store brand(Lowes) I can only guess the usual. Black to black, white to white, green to green or copper wire, blue to red.If no red wire in ceiling then put blue & black from fan to black in ceiling.

Suburu radio wire harness. trying to match up with a new soni deck

Hello uze7, Here is the wiring match up for a 2009 Subaru Forester using the Metra 70-7552 wiring harness: NOTE: The actual harness will be listed as a Nissan harness, but has been used by Subaru since 2007. Also, I'm assuming that your Sony deck uses the standard color code. If not, you should have a manual that lists the function along with the colors. Match the wiring by function, not by color (although the colors may be the same). 2009 Subaru Forester Radio Wiring Color Code: Battery BLUE/RED (+) RADIO HARNESS Accessory YELLOW/RED (+) RADIO HARNESS Ground BLACK (-) RADIO HARNESS Illumination VIOLET (+) RADIO HARNESS Dimmer BLACK/WHITE (-) RADIO HARNESS Power Antenna YELLOW/BLACK (+) RADIO HARNESS LF Speaker (+) BROWN LF Speaker (-) BROWN/WHITE RF Speaker (+) BLUE/WHITE RF Speaker (-) BLUE/YELLOW LR Speaker (+) WHITE/BLACK LR Speaker (-) RED/YELLOW RR Speaker (+) GRAY RR Speaker (-) GRAY/RED Metra Harness: Yellow ? 12V Constant Red ? 12V Accessory Black - Ground Orange ? Changing the 3 speed switch on my westinghouse ceiling fan

If you are careful and take the hot coming into the fan from the power source and connect it to the colored wires one at a time, you will be able to find which one is high, med. and low. Then connect them. Hot in is L, 1 is low, 2 is med, 3 is high
