I had the same problem. I called hp and spent an hour running through the troubleshooting things that I'd already done. They ended up sending me a new ink cartridge, and surprisingly, it worked. For some reason, the printer refused to recognize a nearly full ink cartridge. Go figure. It seems to be working for now, but it's a huge waste of ink and money. If you have the patience for it, call hp and see if they will replace your cartridges.
First pull out ink cartdge from printer. Then check there is any paper jam .Clean ink cartrdge from dust and ink powder also check there is any leakage in inkcartrdge. Then put again ink cartrdge in its position.
Make sure that the HP Officejet J4580 printer is selected in the printers drop down list. Sometimes if you choose a PDF printer for example it will ask you to create a new file.
Sometimes there is an option in the Printer Preferences that says "Print to file". Make sure that it is unchecked.
