Question about Zoom H4 Handy Recorder
We have had a problem of data disappearing from the. It seems to result from when a 'Low Battery' signal comes up during the recording. Later when trying to upload the recording, it says that the file exists, but now it's only 0kb. Has anyone else experienced data loss on the H4? It's quite vital that we solve it, as we hire out the recorder to people to record interviews on.
I have a H4 but not that problem. Have you tried recording when the H4 is charged? My guess is when low on battery, the H4 doesn't record.

If you are using a Mac running Leopard (Sys 10.5), you need to upgrade the H4 firmware from Zoom website
You will need an external SD card reader.

The manual for the H4 is very comprehensive, and there are default settings for many areas of the recorder. Check the
4 track mode setting are proper.

Sometimes the solution is to update the firmware.The
firmware is corrupted.so you need to install a new one.

I thinks so we can copy it i am not sure about this i have not tries it.First transfer the file to PC and then copy it back to
4 track projects.See Managing Recorded Files page 71.

Hi. Not sure you still are in need of a solution but since my machine was doing the same thing last night, and I was able to solve it, I thought I'd post anyway.
For my machine, which has a more current OS than yours (mine is 2.20 I believe), I was receiving the same message after transferring material onto the computer. What needed to happen was to reformat the card. If you press "menu", the click on "file" you should have an option to reformat the card. It worked for me and it now works.
