Samsung Laser 2160 - White banding down left hand side only
The problem I have would appear very similar to those noted earlier. The white almost blurry vertical banding mysteriously disappears for a couple of sheets then returns. I've changed toner cartridge and waste toner collection but I'm loathe to spend £120 on the drum unit in case this didn't correct the fault. Has anyone contacted Samsung direct for their opinion and advice . I bought the printer from CCL in November 08 for a great price - (£142 + Vat) so it's out of warranty and I do feel a bit cheated. If anyone can help that will be great but if not I'm thinking about stepping uo to a Xerox (phaser) who have been at this game a good bit longer than Samsung.

just a thought.. Either your Graphics card or your Video Card has gone bad.. unfortunately DELL has a tendency of putting the graphics ON-BOARD and IF the onboard grqaphics card is bad, you'll need to get into the BIOS and turn the onboard graphics off then purchase an after market Graphics driver.. IMPORTANT: make certain that the graphic cars is compatable with the DELL PC OR purchase a less Proprietary system
I had the same problem. To remove the rubber band, I had to remove a plastic housing that keeps the band in place. It's a bit difficult, but I managed to without breaking anything with two small flat point screwdrivers. I couldn't find any original replacement part, so I looked for something similar in the market. The rubber has to be really soft to pick up the paper, also a reason why it cracks a lot. If the rubber is flat, then try to use fine sandpaper on it to give it some texture. clean it well, so it won't mess up the paper. Put the rubber band on the housing and clip it on. This should end with all the paper jams and weird noises. The job is easier done, if you remove the housing of the printer (six screws). Never use brute force. If it doesn't come out, there's something that you're doing wrong. Be patient, so you won't break anything. Good luck!
You're on the right track! If you remove the paper tray and put the printer in a position so the front of it is facing up, you can then access the roller shaft with ease. If you now look on the right hand side of the roller shaft you will see a white plastic end which is secured onto the shaft with a little clip, lift this up and slide the plastic part inwards. This should now make the shaft easy to turn so you can release the two white clips on the roller and remove the rubber band (which there is only one of, but looks like two on a first glance). Once removed, I just turned it inside out so you can get another few months or more out of it before you have to buy a brand new one for a couple of ££. Replacement is just the reverse of removal. Hope this help!
This error is usually caused by dirt (usually toner) on the laser lens. There should be a cleaner pad somewhere on your machine (though I am not totally familiar with Oki) that will wipe across the lens.
If there is no pad, you may have to find access to the lens and wipe it manually with a tissue or similar
