I would check to make sure that the pullys are free. With it off reach under and see if both or more blades turn freely. If the bearing is frozen it would cause this problem.

Hi, when was the last time you had the carburator serviced, secondly, you must check the governor to make sure it is working correctly under load.

Trying to buy 2 belts for my craftsman gt5000 but can not find size info for either the primary mower drive belt or the primary blade belt. Can someone give me info on sizes of both these belts please

craftsman usually has the belt numbers under the hood. but get the model numbers off the body or deck if it is still there and take the numbers to a mower parts store they can get you what you are needing.

MY CRAFTSMAN GT5000 WILL NOT ENGAGE BLADES USE TO MAKE A CLICK NOISE NOW NOTHING i HAVE POWER TO SWITCH & NOTHING GOING TO MOWER CLUTCH?

Sounds like the switch is bad. You can test the clutch by unplugging the electrical connector then grounding the black wire to tractor or directly to the negative battery cable then the gray one to the positive touch it then the clutch should click on. The switch can be found on Sears parts direct but you will need the model number under the seat. Starts with 917 then 6 more digits.

Hope this helps, if so please vote yes. Thanks!!

My craftsman gt5000 25 HP kohler ran then engaged the blades and it died now it will not even turn over I tried to jump start it and it acts like it has no power to key switch or maybe problem with...

OK. there is a inline fuse, it is usually on the red cable leaving the battery, if will be close to the battery, follow the cable until you see the fuse. sometimes they are located under the plate of the the transmission(middle between seat and steering wheel) Hope this helped Tim

22hp Briggs problem. Loading up, runs

Try checking the prefilter on your air filter. I had a similer problem and mine prefilter was completly covered in dirt. I changed the air filter and it solved my problem. Also make sure the air intakes are not partially clogged with dirt or other stuff.

Craftsman GT5000 W/22hp B+S surges and dies when warm

Replace the spark-plug, check the quality of the fuel(gas that is mixed or was stored more then three months is stale and wont fire correctly) make sure the fuel and air filter not clogged. If there is no change then your problem may be more technical, a nest may be restricting the govenor or you missed something with the carb and there still is debre causing it to stall.

Craftsman GT5000: Dies when switch is pulled to engage blades

Hi
Check for burnt fuse behind dash. If no burnt fuses check if getting power to magnetic clutch mounted on bottom of engine crankshaft. Make sure wires are not broken by magnetic clutch. Make sure the safety seat switch is working. Make sure you are sitting on the seat when you try to engage the blades. If that does not work try pushing and wiggling the seat sensor. Check make sure wire is attached to safety switch under seat.
