Try posting a want ad at www.astromart.com It will cost you $12 per year to join.

And or call Meade customer service and see if they still sell that part.

Need corrector plate retaining ring gasket

These parts are only available from Meade, or if you find an old scope on astromart.com that is being torn apart and sold as parts. You might find a replacement gasket at a well stocked hardware store--- maybe?

I have a Meade telestar 114mm reflector. F=1000 f/8.8. There is what I believe is a correcting lense element located at the bottom end of the focuser tube that has come loose. I need to know which side of...

That is called a diagonal.. It slips all the way into the focuser, then the screws are tightened to hold it there.

The eyepiece then goes into the diagonal.

Whilst using my axis 9 it released a burning smell (rubber) and just turned off. Now it won't even turn back on and still has a cd inside.

bad capacitor on the inside of the unit.
usually the 10000uf 16v tall cap blue or black cap.
look for a bulge on the top.
replace it with a higher voltage cap.

Make the corrector plate meade 203mm

Meade will NOT sell you a corrector plate. They will want the scope back. The corrector plate must be matched optically with the mirror. It is VERY expensive to make this repair, and may not be economical to do. Call Meade:

GOTO ERRORS MEADE LX200 10" CLASSIC

Most problems tend to be mechanical. Have you 'trained' the drive and set the backlash values? Those 2 can have dramatic effects on pointing accuracy. Also, if the optical tube is not in alignment with the mount, then nothing will work correctly. To check that, have the telescope in Alt-Az configuration, inside the house, loosen the RA lock, and shine a laser pointer on the corrector plate. as the telescope is rotated about the RA, the reflected spot should be steady. Adjust the DEC to minimize the diameter of the circle that is drawn. What is left, is the out-of-true on the DEC axis. That can be adjusted with the tube cradle alignment bolts.
