Re: impossible Firmware upgrade

That path should be location of the file you downloaded from trendnet site. The password is set up password for router. Hope you remember that one.

MCDATA 4500 firmware

The Sphereon 4500 (ES-4500) line was purchased by Brocade when Brocade acquired McData back in 2007. These SAN switches and others were marketed using an OEM/reseller model and HP was one of them along with others. So, this switch may still be under and support contract with either Brocade or via one of the OEMs or resellers. If that is the case, then the firmware may be downloaded from whomever the support contract is with. I'm sorry if this seems very complicated but I wanted to explain why it might come from HP or from others depending on the relationship the switch came from.

Tried installing firmware upgrade and now router not working

yes, what thats called is "BRICKING" which basicly means you turned the router into a paperweight. if the firmware is corrupted, it can and sometimes will make the router inaccessable. I would think that the manufacturer would be able to reprogram it, but that may be unlikely also

Problems on GS2024-3.80

I just got this switch with 3.8 on it - I'm seeing the fan alert and normal back and forth constantly, like you posted. The hardware error light also flashes as it does this. The fan does not drop below the limit threshold.

I haven't even tried the network yet, so I can't report on that. This kinda stinks with a brand new switch. I got here via google about 10 minutes after plugging it in and noticing the problem.

Green Power light flashing

Hi, Have you tried a hard reset? Your model has a small reset button at the rear between the Internet/WAN connection and one of the antennas (Press for 10 seconds +). Also flashing power led is an indicator of firmware problem which might have been caused by a failed firmware upgrade/update. Instruction on how to correct this problem is also included in the firmware upgrade/update. A more detailed instruction is in the User Manual. With regards to firmware update/upgrade , pls be reminded that firmware is very version specific. To locate the version number, you have to look underneath the unit and download the appropriate firmware from LinkSys website. ( The download is a zip file which you have to extract to a folder. The .bin file plus instructions as well as specific instructions on how to make the power led stop flashing. Hope this works out for you. Pls post again how things turn up. Good luck and kind regards.

Charter High-Speed Cable and the BEFW11S4 Version 4

To resolve this problem, you will need to upgrade your router's firmware. Click and download the file to your Desktop or My Documents folder (the link is to v1.50.14 firmware code). Once the BIN file has been downloaded, follow these instructions to upgrade the router's firmware: NOTE: Before upgrading your router's firmware, please make sure that the procedure is being performed by a computer that is connected directly to the Router with an Ethernet cable and not a wirelessly connected computer. Accessing the Router's Setup Page 1. Open a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Netscape. 2. When the browser window opens, go to the Address bar and type in the router's IP Address and click on the Go button ( is the default IP address of Linksys Routers). 3. A window will appear prompting for a ?User Name? and a ?Password?. Leave the ?User Name? field blank, and type in the router's password and click on the OK button to login (admin is the default password). 4. The router's web-based ?Setup? utility should then load. Upgrading the Router From the router?s ?Setup? page, locate the Linksys logo in the upper left-hand corner of the page. Follow the instructions below depending on which logo matches your specific screen: If the logo matches the image above ("Linksys - A Division of Cisco Systems, Inc."), follow these steps. If not, skip to the next logo version. 1. Click on the Administration tab. 2. When the ?Administration? page loads, click on the Firmware Upgrade sub-tab. 3. When the ?Upgrade Firmware? page loads, click on the Browse button, and browse to the location where the firmware file was downloaded (and possibly extracted) to. 4. After browsing to the correct location, select the firmware file and click on the OK button. 5. Click on the Upgrade button to upgrade the router's firmware. If the logo matches the image above ("Linksys"), follow these steps: 1. Click on the Help tab. 2. When the "Help" page loads, click on the Upgrade Firmware link. After completing the steps above, the router's firmware should be upgraded successfully.

How to upgrade the firmware on a BEFW11S4

Firmware upgrades may erase all previous settings to your router's configuration. Before upgrading your firmware, make sure to record your settings. 1. Unplug and disconnect all computers from the router except for one. This computer must be plugged into the router directly. There can be no other network activity (wired and wireless) on the router during the upgrade, so be sure to power off all other computers. 2. Go to 3. Select the model number of the Linksys router you have. Make sure to select the correct router version as well, as firmware upgrades frequently vary by version. You can find your router version underneath your router after the model number. For example, ?BEFW11S4 ver. 2?. 4. Click the Downloads for this Product button. 5. Once you arrive on the download page, click the Firmware button. 6. After the firmware page opens, click the link that says ?Click here to download the latest firmware...? and download the firmware file to your computer. 7. Once you download the firmware Zip file, unzip it. If you do not have an unzipping program, go to and download WinZip, which will allow you to unzip the file. 8. After unzipping the firmware files, one of them will be called TFTP.EXE. Double click on it. 9. When the ?Upgrade Firmware? window opens, you will have three prompts. The ?Server? field is for the IP address of your router; by default this would be 10. Enter the routers password into the ?Password? field; by default the password is admin. 11. Browse for the file in the Firmware Upgrade utility program by clicking on the button next to file with the '?' symbol on it. Look for the file named 'code.bin' in the folder where the firmware files were extracted to. 12. Highlight the code.bin file and click on the Open button to direct the TFTP loader program to put that file into the "File" box. 13. The full path should be displayed [example: c:\linksys\code.bin]. 14. Click on the Upgrade button to begin the upgrade process. 15. The upgrade should take about 1 minute, and you will be prompted after the upgrade is complete and successful. If you are still having troubles, contact Linksys Technical Support.
