Needle will not full size record - Audio Players & Recorders

confusion reigns here I don't have a reciever problem. IT is a turntable problem the needle will not engage properly on a 33 1/3 record. To turn the unit on it must be closed. As soon as it starts turning it will automatically start to play only at the location of a 45 sped record the speed will play at 33 1/3 but only at the setting of a 45 sized record it decends each time at 17"

IT IS A TECHNICS SL-5 TURNTABLE UNSURE HOW A RECIEVER WAS POSTED

  • ghenderso895 Jun 30, 2009

I have has no response to this issue I need to leave for a while and wanted to know if abyone has a clue about my technics sl-5 or if you only support those turntables listed

  • ghenderso895 Jun 30, 2009

It plays the record fine but manuevers only to the location of a 45 record. It changes speeds fine since it finds the 45 record correctly I have to assume it is not a mechanical problem

i have not been able to find a manual for this turntable could this be a setting issue . it is a direct drive turntable so there is no spring involved

  • ghenderso895 Jul 01, 2009

Well I had to take the uit apart and tape down the record detection switch. I will pay the price as the manual showed me thne switch which was missing on the unit

  • ghenderso895 Jul 01, 2009

the issue was resolved more by me than by the engineer online. He did find the manual I needed to resolve the problem

I would recommend replacing the needle as they are resonably priced. Also check to make sure the record speed actually switches the speeds. Also make sure that the spring on the arm is not stretched out.

Oh ok. I will do the best I can to locate a manual if there is one. It may be faulty drive or system error. But I will try to search for a manual

Where can i get an adaptor for Harris Lanier Transcriber VoiceWriter 150 & 250. Im talking about playing a mini cassette on a large cassette machine. Thnx

I don't think that's possible, the minicassette won't fit between the spool spindles. You may be able to use a minicassette player, and route its output to the full-sized cassette recorder, though, or to a little transmitter that broadcasts to a matching receiver in the full-sized cassette player.

To know that it can be change, look for the option for your video recording and look for video size settings. You can do that when you open your video recorder.

What kind of phonograph needle do I need?

Is there any numbers or a makers name on the cartridge? If there is you can get the answer to your question by putting them into a search engine.
If there is no information on it, try looking the record deck up on the net.

It is not a reciever it is a turntable and will not play a full size record it plays 33 1/3 but only sits down on a record as if it is a 45 record

There should be a size selector switch somewhere marked 7, 10(sometimes), 12. Your deck sound like it is set to the 7 setting.

Pioneer PL-670 record rejects continually

Are the record size tabs sticking up through the turntable platter cover? They sense the size of the record being played and adjust the run out distance for either 45 or 33 rpm records.
