There is no oven knob, all is electronic.

Hi; how to remove the oven floor? Hopefully, just a couple of screws? Otherwise, cannot see if glow is present. I'm guessing this fix isn't going to be manicure friendly :-)

GE XL44 oven will not heat. Top burners are fine.

The oven doesn't heat, but the broiler works.
I think the problem is the igniter has failed.
That is a very good possibility. The oven ignitor is the most likely component to fail in such an oven ignition system. And yes, it is possible for an oven ignitor to glow and still be defective. You can read about how the different types of gas oven ignition systems work and some of the problems that experience at the following link:

The oven that you have has the electronic ignition system (please correct me if I am wrong), where most likely is the cause if the problem.

The way this works is power flows from the thermostat or electronic control through the ignitor and heats it. They are all in series. It then allows a specific amount of current to flow to the oven valve. Once a certain amount of current is reached, it opens the valve and allow gas to flow to the oven burner where it is ignited by the hot ignitor.

This could be a faulty thermostat if there is no current from the thermostat going out to the system and the valve. You may want to open the bottom of the oven (inside the oven) and see if the ignitor glows (which may cause th temp to rise to 100 degrees. If it is glowing, the issue could be in the valve.

pull out the racks and remove the bottom floor of the oven, turn it on bake,if the ignitor doesn't glow most likely it's bad,if it does glow and it doesn't ignite within 40 to 60 seconds the ignitor is bad.even though it glows doesn't mean it's good,it works by amps.it takes 3.2 amps.for a flat ignitor to open the gas valve and 2.5 amps for a round ignitor to open the gas valve.

Hi,
Yes, I think that you have a problem with the ignitor on your gas range.
As crazy as it may seem the ignitor can light your oven and then the power going through it drops off too much and it will shut your gas valve off. It sits there and goes crazy trying to relight all the time and never gets your oven hot. Sometimes it will and sometimes it won't... Drove me nuts the first time my own oven did that a few years back.

Here is a tip that will help explain it also. At the bottom of that tip there is also a tip on how to buy partson line.

The oven of GE Profile range simply stopped igniting

If it is a ge it would have a glow bar ignitor, either a flat rectangle shaped or a round ignitor. That is want the problem is 95% of the time. It is pretty easy to do. The floor of the stove will come right out and it probably has two screws in the back corners you can see. Remove them and the floor will lift out and you can see the burner and the ignitor.

Lower oven burner will not light.

Hi I have a older GE that the oven won't light. It is a gas range that is electric ignited. The top burners do work but the oven will not light. Is it pricey to have this fixed?

it's the oven igniter assembly. runs about $60-70. Easy fix. Take out the oven racks and then the bottom oven plate (two screws are at located towards the back oven wall). The igniter is the middle and is connected by two wires that run below. You'll need to remove the stoarge drawer to access the wire connectors. I found my part at RepairClinic.com. They've always had parts at a great price and locally available.

GE XL44 pilot

I dont know if you recieved an answer yet but this is a fairly easy fix. Open your oven door and remove your bottom oven plate. You now should see the burner element running down the middle. at the rear of the burner element is the ignite r (small porcelin bugger with two wires) remove this and replace with a new one GE #WB2X9154 available from the repairclinc.com website for 69.80 plus shipping. i just ordered (2) they seam to go out like clockwork every 2-3 years. To be safe unplug your ovens 110 volt cord first.

Good Luck

Ge spectra xl44 stove

Most likely the oven ignitor is bad or weak.  You can look at it and see how it compares to the broil ignitor.  If you see a whitish color on the ignitor and if it doesn't fully glow then it needs to be replaced.
