My Cub Cadet has an override feature so the PTO will continue to run even in reverse. If yours is like mine after you turn on the PTO turn the key back toward off about a quarter of a turn and push the button above and slightly right of the key. A light in the button should turn on to show the override is active.

SOURCE: Mower pto engages when initially started but after

the coil in the electric PTO shorts out when it expands by heat causing it to lose it's magnetic pull and disengages- I hate to say it,but you need a new PTO clutch.

While, mowing 50 inch cub cadet tank, zero turn just lost all power and will not start

Check battery voltage is over 12.0 VDC and fuse is intact.

The unit requires Brake ON, PTO OFF, and both steering arms out (neutral) to crank. Cycle the components Brake, PTO, and steering arms and try again.

There are no relays, just switches. The wiring diagram is in the operators manual available no fee download from multiple sources including CubCadet. Some alternative part suppliers include the wiring diagram in the parts list.

My cub cadet shut down when I got off and will not start again. Nothing happens when I turn the key.

Most Cub Riders require the PTO OFF, brake ON, and ignition switch in START position.

Cub Cadet wiring diagrams are usually included in the parts diagrams. See the following URL.

If you can't locate a wiring diagram, comment below with the model number and I'll try to locate a URL.

My cub cadet LTX 1045 will not start. I parked it the last time I used it and it ran fine. Engine turns over, gas in the carb; but no spark. Safety switches all look ok. Oil level is fine.

Brake switch
PTO switch
Seat switch
RCM / reverse switch

Could be any of the above.

Troubleshoot by checking continuity from the M (magneto) pole of the ignition switch to ground. It should be open (no continuity from M pole to ground.

Methodically disconnect switches until M pole to ground shows open. Then test suspected switch.

A DMM or an inexpensive auto circuit lamp tester will do.

Cub cadet blowing fuses when engaging the PTO. LT1554 starts and runs until engaging the blades.

If it is blowing fuses my experience is you have a short in a switch or wires. When you put in the pto it blows the fuse. That would lead me to think the electrical short has something to do with the PTO safety switch, wire or circuit..
I am posting this link it is not your tractor but it demonstrates the safety switches on lawn tractor and shows his pto safety switch.
Your issue should be in the pto safety switch or wiring circuit.

Might be something like cut or wire with insulation stripped back touching a ground. Switch could be shorted.

Wiring diagram diagrams

I just rewired my 782. same wiring as the 682.
All the electrical to the Engine coil runs through the PTO switch. Not sure what your issue is but that's a big failure point
