Try to clean the scanner glass and the upper white strip(the white plastic strip just above the scanner) with spiritus.

Let me know

Plug a regular phone into the wall jack and listen for a dial tone.

Make sure you are plugged into the LINE port of your fax machine.

Do you have DSL phone service?

Go to this website, http://www.sharp.ca/manuals/ and scroll down to Facsimile, then select your model number UX P105 and on the right hand side you can d/l your owners manual.

You have a problem in your Scanner Unit.Try to change New Paper Separator so that when you send out it will not be shrunk again.
