Canon NP-4050 printing almost completely black pages

After running about 500 copies one morning, the copier started printing pages that were about 1/4 black, then half black, then 3/4's black, and now perhaps a copy will have a inch or two on one side that remains normal while the rest of the copied page comes out black. Is it a drum problem? The drum was starting to get old, about 120,000 copies on it.

This problem appears to be that the scanlamp cable has fatigued and become open-circuit. This can be checked by selecting A3 and pressing the START button while having the lid up. Watch to see if the light stays on all the way through the forward pass of scan cycle, it can be intermittent. Make sure that the machine is unplugged before attempting to replace the cable. The drum is definitely on its way out at that amount of copies, but can be made to last a fair bit longer with some fine-tuning.

How to canon np 4050 scanner lamp continuously on

It would be in service mode, why would you want to turn it On continuously??? Does the lamp turn ON with warm up? If so, the lamp and fuse is good. When you make a copy, will the lamp turn OFF and ON when it is scanning the original? If it dose, you will need to replace the scanner power cable. This copier is very, very, old.... I was trained on it over 20 years ago... Parts may be hard to find.... Good Luck

The toner is not adding correctly into the developing assembly. 1) If toner hopper is overfilled, the toner motor worm gear splits as a result of the hopper becoming packed tight. 2) Sometimes the worm gear splits under normal use.

Canon np 4050 low fusing temperature

I am not 100 percent sure what is happening to your machine after it comes to ready, but I will offer some thoghts.
If it comes to ready and then goes back to a low heat situation. It very well could be the board if it doesnt maintain heat.
Now that being said, once a coiper comes to ready and reaches full heat, it will switch over to pulsating the heat roller, not staying on fully all the time. That is how fusers are designed. Full on until they reach operating temperature, then pulsating to maintain the rollers heat level.
If you are having a problem with the image not fusing to the paper, you may have an issue with the pressure roller not making good contact with the heat roller.
There may be a software setting that needs adjusted to increase the fuser operating temperature.
The flickering heat rod, once the machine reaches ready, seems appropriate.
If you want more of an idea, can you be more specific as to whether the machine is faulting out with an under heating situation, or is the image not fusing to the paper properly?
