Question about Whirlpool GS6NBEXR Side by Side Refrigerator

Knocking sound We have an american style fridge freezer, there is a knocking sound, I think it is an air lock to the ice refil from the lower pump. We had the same with the filtered water but I have solved this. If we turn of the ice maker at the fron the periodic noise stops that is how we know where it is coming from.

My refrigerator also knocks. I have had Sears tech at my house 3 times and because he does not hear it, they won't fix anything even though they are very anxious to sell me a new service contract. The noise is coming from a big motor looking thing on the bottom in the back. I have isolated this noise. It does not do it when the refrig goes on or off, it does not do it when the ice maker fills or empties, it just does it whenever. Sometimes it is in the middle of the night and goes on all night then the next day it doesn't do it at all.

If this is a short (2-3 second) muffled snare-drum sound every 5-10 minutes, we have a similar problem, but we drew a great technician the second time around. Fortunately, the tech heard the problem as soon as he arrived. After considerable disassembly and testing (we were able to replicate the problem on demand by de-energizing and re-energizing the refrigerator) the trouble was traced to the flapper door between the freezer and refrigerator compartment. The motor is tryng to close the door, but gear damage is not letting it. It keeps trying and the sound keeps repeating. Another sympotom is that the freezer does not hold temperature well and the refrigerator is too cool.

Hope this helps.

How to fix knocking sound

It really depends where the sound is coming from. You will get a knocking sound when the fridge makes ice, and a knocking should when the compresser starts land stops, or your fan in the freezer may be hitting some ice build up in theevaperator

Hi, I have a NEFF K3950X6GB American style Fridge/Freezer. Whilst decorating my kitchen a few days ago I moved it away from the wall to gain access to the wall and noticed how dusty the bottom metal grate...

If the freezer temperature is freezing or below, as it should be, you should be getting ice. I would place a thermometer in the freezer to check the temperature. It would take a while for your frozen good to thaw out in a 33 degree freezer, but ice would not form in your icemaker at that temperature. Set your temperature lower after checking.

Hi there- recently my samsung fridge began to make a bit of a knocking noise like the fan was dying down whenever I opened the fridge door. Now my fridge won't cool down below 58 degrees. From what I can...

Hello,
It sounds like the defrost is not working properly and ice has built up inside where the fan is and the ice is restricting normal operation of the fan.Try fully defrosting over 24 hours if possible the defrost heater will still need investigating.

Hope this helps.

Hi freezer on american style fridge freezer is

there is a defrost mode that melts any frost or ice on the evaporator coils and drains it into a pan under the fridge. if that drain is blocked, the water will pool inside. also check the door seals. if warm moist air leaks in, it'll condense on the cold interior and pool as well.

The fridge of my American style fridge/freezer is

You can use a hairdryer on the frozen parts.
The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent(damper) between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

Knocking noise coming from Whirlpool Gold refrigerator

I also have a new Whirlpool Gold fridge (bottom freezer with French doors) and it was making a knocking sound. The knocking sound would start when the fridge kicks in and starts running to cool, and would last for about a minute or less and be a slow knock.
I called Whirpool customer service since it is new and on warranty. They sent out a technician and he said the knocking is from gas/air built up in the copper tubing for the freezer because the copper tubing is too cold, and when the fridge first turns on it forces the air through, making the knocking sound.
His "fix" was to adjust the copper tubing so that it is closer to the heat of the motor/compressor and heat of another copper line so that the cooler line stays warm so the air/gas doesn't build up. His fix worked slightly, but the fridge is still knocking, just not as bad and not as long - it knocks fast for about 5 to 10 seconds instead of a minute.
Going to call customer service again soon and see where to go from here.

Freezer defrost LG american style

Defrost the unit for two days with the doors open...I know you're going to lose your contents. You may have ice on the coils internally. Next make sure you've cleaned the external coils under the unit. Leaving liquids open inside the unit or setting it colder than required will both cause issues like the ones you've got. Also, be sure all air vents inside the unit are unblocked and the door closes tightly all around.
