Question about HP LaserJet 1320n Printer
OK, If rollers are not moving smoothly and you hear a small grinding noise, here is what to do to fix the jamming problem:
Remove the Right side cover and expose the gears that drive the rollers. The main drive roller you may see there is probably not engaging the other gears. This is due to the small plastic bearing on the roller shaft (very small & tan color). It has worn down causing the problem. Use a small screwdriver to gentlly rotate the small bearing 180 degrees on the shaft. This will lift the gear into place and stop the jamming.

SOURCE: Jam in the document feeder
I think I found my answer. You don't have to un do any screws. Lift up the cover to the automatic feeder. You will see a spring on the side of the mechanism towards the front; remove the spring; that will allow you to lift up the little arm the spring was attached to and remove the roller or bar and the light blue/green plate just under it. Then you will be able to see the jammed paper, which which I was able to carefully pull out with a pair of tweezers. Some was under rubber rollers, but when I pulled the paper sideways it slipped out. Now it works!

Tips for a great answer:
Jan 13, 2012 | HP Scanjet 5590 Flatbed Scanner
You can specify the method for restarting scanning of documents when a paper jam occurs in the feeder.
For information on the optional products required to use this function, see "Optional Products Required for Each Function."
Details of each item are shown below.
[From 1st Page]: If a paper jam occurs in the feeder, scanning starts again from the first page of the document. [From Stopped Original]: If a paper jam occurs in the feeder, scanning starts again from the page of the document scanning was interrupted.
