Hi....there,
Well, you've got a busted backlight inverter... Need to replaced a new one...
SOURCE: my monitor goes black for about 2 seconds then goes back to pict.
Sounds asif the Xenon tubes that backlight the LCD are losing power. Probable cause, a power invertor or PSU fault.
It can be repaired by a hardware specialist, but best written off.
The cost of repair will be better spent on a new monitor.
SOURCE: Monitor restarting randomly
Rarely does a monitor go out due to drivers. Try another monitor and verify that it isn't the computer (it isn't). If the power light goes out it is the power supply (usually inside) the monitor. If the light stays on, it will most likely be the backlight power unit. Browse the internet for the model and parts. Newer units are difficult to find.

It could be the capacitors on your monitor's Power Supply. Open up the lcd and check the power supply board see if you see any "BULGED UP" capacitors. If thats the case you most likely just need to replace the bad capacitors. Go to radio shack or electronics supply store buy the same capacitors with the same mF and volts. If you can't find the same ones then always go with higher voltage. Replace the bad ones with new ones following this video. Make sure you note the negative terminals on the CAPS before you remove them. The shorter side on the new CAP is always negative.

Does it work well with other computers?
If you are connecting to a laptop, try switching display modes (like you would do for a projector)
