ALL fax machines are ANALOG devices and will not work reliably on DIGITAL phone lines.

Why won't the fax work?

My recommendation would be to hit the speaker button when sending a fax to hear why your fax wont go through.

When you hit speaker you should have a clean dial tone, then when you start dialing and the tone stops make sure you don't have any static or noise on the line.

There are several reasons you might get a NG error. One is the fax line you're trying to send to is busy. Maybe it's a phone line not a fax you're trying to send to. Maybe you need to dial a 1 or 0 for long distance, maybe your fax line has noise on it.

Using the speaker can help troubleshoot what the problem is.

All In one Dell printer 926 can't get it to send a fax. There's no place for a phone line to be hooked into it and it tells me there's no phone line but I have dsl and the phone line for home phone and dsl...

I recommend you check to make sure you have the most current drivers for your PC modem and that you also download the User Guide for your printer for the guidance on using your printer to send and receive faxes.

You need to setup your system to use the modem in your PC.

Here is how your system should be setup:

Note that you will need a DSL filter on the phone line to your computer.

Can't fax message no dial tone

No Dial tone is what it is.

1 Check the cable
2. make sure the line has tone.

if both of those are fine the fax modem inside the unit is bad I would recommend you seek warranty repair for this issue. But keep in mind to check the line and cable first.

Thanks for using fixya.com

Fax

How about a filter that came with your DSL modem? You can run your DSL to one side and fax to the other.

Dial Tone

ok..so...here's what you need, one of those DSL filters feeding your fax machine, and any other standard POTS(Plain Old Telephone Service) devices, like answering machines. You should have rec'd 3 or 4 of them with your DSL modem.

HISSS on line; no dial-tone; no fax in or out

it sounds like you may not have any dial tone. the hiss [white noise] you are hearing is from the dsl modem.try plugging a regular corded phone into the jack to check for dial tone.if there is none, call your phone company.also try plugging the fax machine into another jack where you know there is dial tone.
good luck

Do you have a filter on the line? Also make sure the phone line from the wall is plugged into the jack in the back of the machine marked "line" and not "phone"
