I want to retune to digital but I don't have any existing channels set up as have only used it as gaming TV and when I try to retune it says database empty

I have just solved mine - combination of finger trouble and open circuit aerial comnection, which was giving enough signal strength to make the analog TV side work, convincing me signal was ok.
Also needed to select the 'menu program' button at the bottom of the remote (in the DVD area) and not the 'set up TV' button. Here you willl find a menu option for DTV new installation/program tuning

Sorry to bother you, but the friend I was looking at this problem for has decided to get a new TV. Thanks for your response.
Many thanks

Hi Barry Like mine, it could be that since the channel 5 fiasco, your new signal may be a bit weaker, and may have only just been strong enough before. I had to dig out an old signal booster, a re-tune again, and bingo all there! Also, when you go to retune, you may want to use "first Time Install" because it completely wipes the old channel list, and starts a fresh.

You are probably talking about the main menu that appears when the TV is taken off the AC power outlet, to get rid of this page just turn the tv off and on again and it should give you access to what ever channel was tuned before, if your game console has an RF out, your TV should be set to channel 3 ir 4, if the console has composite outs the change the channel until the TV goes to Aux in or Video in. Retrevo.com has an instruction manual available which you can download free, just in case you need more informantion, if the channel keys do not work, then you may have to get a universal remote ,they are fairly inexpensive and will come in very handy at least for the basic functions or just have theTV worked on.
