Question about Apple iPod touch Second Gen (8 GB, MB528LL/A) Digital Media Player

Open Question

Half of the time, my iPod touch 2g's speakers don't work

When the built-in speakers don't work, It makes this quiet buzzing sound. If I wait a couple minutes after it buzzes, it will play sound. It is on and off like that.
When they buzz, I can't play any sound from the iPod speakers, into the earbuds, into external speakers, or anywhere.
The speakers aren't the problem, it is something else in the iPod, and won't let any sound out into anything.
I found out about this recently, and can't seem to fix this.

switch the hold button on and off, then hold horizontally, and push the menu button and center button at the same time. hold them down untill the ipod restarts and the apple logo apears. If that doesen't work, plug into the newest itunes program, and push restore.

SOURCE: buzzing ipod

Look on apples website for the 5 R's method of restoring your ipod and carry them out.

If this doesn't work, put your ipod into disk mode:

  1. Before placing the iPod into disk mode, you should verify that it is charged.
  2. Toggle the Hold switch on and off. (Set it to Hold, then turn it off again.)
  3. Press and hold the Menu and Select buttons for at least 6 seconds until the Apple logo appears.
  4. When the Apple logo appears, release the Menu and Select buttons and immediately press and hold the Select and the Play/Pause buttons until the Disk Mode screen appears.
Then plug it into your computer and see if it appears in my computer.

If not then post on here again and we'll take it from there.

SOURCE: My ipod touch speakers are making a weird buzzing

There is most likely some sort of debris inside of the headphone jack leading to that problem. The speakers sound like they are blown. Try holding the home button for 10 seconds, followed by holding the lock button for 10 seconds, put it into DMU mode and restore it completely. If this does not fix it, check with Apple and see if there is a warranty still left on it.

I have had a rather disoncerting lw level buzzing

I had the same after about 15 months. It seems to happen when charging the iPOD. I took it back to John Lewis, it was returned to B&W and came back repaired 8 working days later. I was very pleased with the service. As an added bonus B&W restarted the 2 yr guarantee.

    When I plug in my Ipod to the inMotion im310 portable speaker the Ipod screen says it is not supported, and it worked this morning.

    Check the pins on the speaker and on the plugin on the iPod, that's the problem usually. Also, check if the iPod is truly compatible, even if it worked before it may not be. I have seen car chargers for say a 2G iPhone work for a bit then say incompatible, it happens. Here are the compatible iPods for the iM310:

    Plays and charges
    iPod mini;
    iPod nano 1G, 2G, 3G, 4G;
    iPod classic 3G, 4G, 5G, 5.5G, 6G;
    iPod touch 1G, 2G

    Good luck!

    Ipod touch+motorola d650 adapter

    I just bought the S9 with the D650 adopter with the same, very frustrating problem problem.
    I contacted Motorola directly (1-800-331-6456), and after being redirected a couple times and asking a bunch of questions they told me the following:

    Yes, there is a compatablility issue with the Ipod Touch and the D650. So no, we aren't all crazy. The new D650's now have a software upgrade to correct this problem. They were nice of enough to offer sending me a new one with no charge. The only thing I have to do is return my old one (and they took my credit card information to make sure I do return it.) They said it should be here within the week, so now I just gotta wait and see.

    So my advice, give them a call and do the same.
