When this happens the first thing you should do is check the connections to the LCD screen. However if it was working fine before this is most likely not necessary since they have to be connected properly to show anything. After that you would need to replace the LCD or the Logic board. If everything else is working properly then the problem is more than likely the LCD needs to be replaced.

1. Verify whether or not the date and time appear on your Brother machine's LCD. If anything is displayed on your Brother machine's LCD, then it is most likely receiving power.
   
   
   1. If your Brother machine's LCD is blank, continue toStep 2.
   2. If your Brother machine's LCD displays a message other than the date and time, please refer to the FAQ about the message being displayed for further information.
2. Verify the Brother machine's power cord is connected securely to the power outlet. If you are using a surge protector, extension cord, or power switch, disconnect it and plug the Brother machine directly into the wall outlet.
3. If the Brother machine is turned OFF, its LCD will be blank. Please make sure the Brother machine is powered ON by pressing and holding theOn/OfforPower Savekey. This key is located in the upper-right corner of the control panel.
4. If your Brother machine's LCD is still blank, connect it to a completely different, known working power outlet. If the Brother machine powers up, then the problem is related to the original outlet.

   Confirm the power outlet is working by plugging another known working device (a lamp, radio, etc.) directly into the same outlet. If the other device does not work, the problem is related to that power outlet. If a wall switch controls the outlet, verify that the switch is ON.

software update would not do anything to restore the LCD's display, you need to have the phone repaired, it needs a replacement LCD.

Press the menu button and hold until you can read the display, and then release it.

I am sorry to hear that the new sidekick 3 is not working for your son.

Is the screen white, blank, or just hard to see?

If white, then the flex cable needs to be reseated.

If dark blank, then reseat the lcd assy itself and see if it works

If hard to see the screen, then the backlight is dead. A new screen is needed for that.

sorry but the display is probably still covered in puke inside. you will need to replace the whole display. or take it apart and clean it check that everything is ok and put it back in.

I have a sony cybershot DSC-S650, the LCD was very dark and could not see anything except if I pointed it at a bright object, everything else worked ok. I could take pictures but could barely see them in playback as well.

I took it to Sony authorised repair outlet and was told the CCD was damaged, they charged me USD $55 to repair it (in Quito, Ecuador)

I hate to tell you this, but it sounds as though the device itself is bad. HP offers a standard (1) year warranty. If you're printer is not that old you can call them and get the printer replaced. Depending on the functionality you lose with the broken LCD display I would either continue to use the other working services or I would just purchase a new model.

If the LED display screen on your printer is blank please try disconnecting the USB cable from the computer and then disconnect the power to your printer. Reconnect the power to a different power outlet, and turn your printer back on. If the same issue occurs, your printer will require service. call HP support so that they can recommend you to a servicer that specializes on the product. Pls rate as fixya, thanks!!
