Creative zen 4GB will not turn on, only blue light!!
Went for a run this morning using my wonderful zen. Got back and turned it off. Wanted to use it in the gym this evening and noticed that there was a blue light on with nothing on the screen. Tried turning it on but nothing comes on the screen. Tried plugging into my pc, and my pc recognises it but shows no charging icon on the player. Tried the reset button, tried pressing play for duration the reset and on, but nothing will work!! I'm very very upset only had it for 4 months and i've grown quite attatched, working out without it is just not the same. HELP!!

Well, i didn't charge mine over night, was listening to it in the evening while doing some chores and all of a sudden it stopped playing, Blank screen and permanent Blue light. I tried to turn if off but it didn't respond so i left it. In the morning, it went off itself (guess the battery was low). So i connected to the computer and inserted the ZEN CD. As i was exploring the CD looking for a solution, then all of a sudden the screen came up with a note "Rebuilding..." after 5 secs it came on. With all my files intact!

had same prob to the T...found this post and it fixed it...it's the computer not the zen...once I did the two steps my zen started charging and turned on...go figure...the flashing blue light doesn't mean it is charging. posted on Feb 25, 2009
you have windows set to do automatic updates, you most likely had a
windows update installed that caused this conflict with Win Media
Player 11. No fix has been posted by Microsoft yet, so the only
workaround is to Uninstall/Rollback Windows Media Player 11. Goto
<Control Panel<Add/Remove Programs and remove Windows Media

re-configure Windows Media Player again.
Your Zen should now be recognized by WMP and Creative software. You
probably need to upgrade your firmware at this point, follow the
instructions on upgrading your firmware, and you should be good to go.
This is a windows problem, not a creative problem. Dont blame Creative
for the screwed up hotfixes that Microsoft puts out on a regular basi
I had a similar problem with my Zen Vision:M, whereby the computer just stopped recognizing my device. I found out it was because Windws has updated to Service Pack 3 automatically, and for some reason my player only works with SP2. It started working again when I installed SP2 again, but then I keep getting the annoying upgdate notifications from windows.
Your device lockup isn't uncommon, and in most cases is easy to fix. You need a small paperclip or straight pin to reset the device. When you reset, be sure to hold it in and wait for the blue light to turn off. Once you power the unit back on, it will rebuild and should operate as normal.
