You have the "blue screen of death" i had this same problem and the easiest way to fix it is to take the hard drive out and put it into another computer back up all files you want to keep on it have a boot disk for the right windows operating system on it use the boot disk with it once it is back in the right computer and then put all the files you saved back on it. the blue screen of death occurs when there is a registry error on your computer. if the blue screen of death appears again then you need a new computer.

As it tries to boot, press F8 and choose safe mode. Go back to before you tried to update to win10 by using the restore point.

The laptop stays on for few minutes and then it turns itself off but before it does that, it shows a large blue scree and some large white text, the text flicks a little but fast to the point where I can...

First of all Turn of your laptop.
Now this time when you turn on your laptop start tapping F8 Key on you keyboard when you Toshiba logo. Tap F8 key for at least 5-6 times.
You will get a Windows Advance Option Menu. You will see lot of options over their written in white text. Your mouse will not work on this screen. Use UP and DOWN arrow keys on you keyboard and highlight Last known good configuration. Once highlighted press enter on it. See if you computer boots. If it boots try doing a restore.
If it doesn't boot.
Turn off your computer and then turn on your computer. On Toshiba Logo screen tap F8 key once again and go to windows advanced option menu screen once again and this time hightlight Disable automatic restart on system failure. Now when you see Blue screen coming up on your computer once again your computer won't restart. Now you can write down the information to trace out the blue screen that is occurring on your computer. Write down the Error code which will be in form of STOP 0x000000XX, you find this error code somewhere at the bottom of the blue screen.
Once you get the reply here, we will see what we can do.

IMac G4 Mac Desktop: imac g4 wont boot up scree's just blue?...

If it only boots to a blue screen, try booting up in Safe Boot mode:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1455

If this does not work, boot from your install DVD and use Disk Utility to repair the disk:

http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2956

If this does not resolve the issue you may need to use your isntall disc to perform an Archive and Install:

New build pc no boot... black screen

Try to remove the battery from the MB, and next time you try to install WIN XP, when you are asked how to format your drive, chose quick NTFS formatting; disable floppy drive in BIOS, because it might try to boot from it (and I suppose you don't have one), and in boot sequence (BOOT DEVICE PRIORITY) set cd-dvd as first, and HDD as second, and turn off any other device as bootable
