Question about Welding Tools

1 Answer

105 Turbo Model 90778 welder. Took apart the gun/handle because it was not feeding the wire corretly. Put back together and it shorted out. Don't have an exploded view of the handle, to see if anything went in backwards.

Most wire feed problems stem from WF rollers, liners, clutch mechanism on the reel, or contact tip, very rearly on the torch, Torch units are cheap enough and come in a wide range and lenghs, avoid long length cables unless nessasary. you can obtain a drawing of torches from the torch manufacturers

I have a kende mig 105 gasless welder, but the wire isn't getting fed through on the feed wheel, tried different welding wire and also turned the wheel, tried tightening the wheel, slackening it as well,i

Here's a few things you can check:
When gun trigger is pulled, do the drive wheels turn? If they aren't, pull the trigger again; do you hear anything within the machine (contactors closing, gas solinouds opening, any clicking, etc.) that would indicate the trigger circuit is functional?
If the drive wheels are turning, but wire isn't being pushed thru the mig gun, check for proper drive roll vs. wire size. If that is correct, check gun liner for obstructions. Flux cored wire tends to stop up a wire liner fairly quickly.

Wire feed is simply a switch unless you are talking about a gun with fingertip speed control. Your make and model information are incomplete.

I have a lincoln 175+. when i got it i plugged it in an all seemed to work fine. looked like it had been dropped from quite a ways up. the biggest problem was the whole wire feed gear box all of it was...

check the return wire from the hand trigger has been connected to the speed motor wire. Check for a fuse in the system. I have just wrecked a 190 amp welder and I noticed the feed motor assy. was fully insulated from the welder body. Check that out as well as it may be shorting out and not driving the motor.

MIG welder 250 feeding wire at erratic speeds

Gun trigger contacts or switch circuit is closing somewhere (shorting). Unplug connector and jump the two terminals if it works and will weld disconnect jumper if problem persists it is not in the gun or cable hose. Keep chasing it far as possible without taking bolts or screws out of machine unless you know what that stuff inside will do to you, pretty sure the problem is not in there anyway.

Welder will only weld for about three inches on high

If it won't push wire through gun you might need to tighten wire rollers, or check the liner for bad spots.

When trying to weld, the feed wire gets red hot

There are loose connections and / or a short in the gun.
sounds like the gun is grounded, and the gun is welding the wire to itself.

How do i get the wire out of te welding line if it is broke off inside

Remove the gun assembly off of the unit and carefully remove the liner from the feed tube, at this point you can usually take a spare piece of wire and push it thru the liner and push out the broken wire, if not then pickup a replacement liner from your dealer and install it reverse of the way you took it apart, and you should be back in bussiness. Hope This Helps Don

Wireing diagram needed for turbo 100 en someone took the gun off and forgot where the wires go HELP needed

Should be matching connectors for the wires inside the welder. If not one is power should be a large wire that powers the gun and the 2 smaller wires should be for trigger swich for wire feed/gas on/off..

Wire does not feed on MIG welder

my lincoln mig welder did the same exact thing!! I thought what you did, drive motor bad. But it wasn't, on mine there is a reset/breaker button, it's like a 25 amp fuse that can be reset, it was bad! so I took the 2 wires that went in and out of it and jumped them together (not advised) to see if it would work then. BINGO!! now I have to find replacement. Look inside for a fuse or some thing like that.
hope this helps, oh yeah, when I ask the mechanic at the welding store he said that drive motors rarely go bad!!
