to turn this setting off just press the down arrow button when reviewing your photos. you will scroll through a number of ways to view tho photo including histogram, and one of the settings is just the picture.

SOURCE: MY NIKON D50 SCREEN HAS

This screen shows areas of the photo that are overexposed slightly.
It flashes them to help you.
You get to this screen by pressing the up or down arrows when displaying the pictures you have taken.

To change it just press the up arrow when the camera is showing the screen until you get a display without flashing.

Once you have done this the display will be steady.
If you get any other screen in future you may have accidently pressed the arrow again.
Just cycle thru the displays to get back to steady.

SOURCE: how to remove the battery from nikon d3000

the little trap door on the bottom houses both the memory card and the battery. you have to push the battery slightly to release it. i fond the easiest way at that point is to tip the camera and the battery usually slides right out.

SOURCE: Nikon D3000 Monitor is black when taking a picture

You can get the shooting information on it. If you're looking to use the D3000 as a point&shoot by viewing the image on the screen, then no, you have to use the viewfinder.

Nikon D3000 flash wont stay closed due to broken clip.

Unfortunately Nikon stopped selling parts on July 13th, 2012. I checked and the part you need is not currently for sale on Ebay so you best hope is to call local repair shops and hope one has either the part still in stock or a salvage top cover they can pull the part off of. The other choice is to send the camera to Nikon and eat a $200 repair bill.

If you are annoyed by Nikon's actions I would strongly suggest you email the president of the company to express your displeasure. Only by having a lot of customer complaints will Nikon maybe recind their ridiculous policy.

Can't see image on my d3000 screen i dropped it. It is not cracked just can't see images anymore. Camera still takes pictures, can view on computer.

Something has been internally damaged. Don't try to fix this yourself. Take your camera to a qualified repair man or, better yet, contact your nearest Nikon Repair Depot which can be found in your instruction manual or at the Nikon USA website.

I dropped my daughters Nikon d3000 and now all pictures taken are coming out with just stripes. Does anyone know if this is the camera or the lense

This is a camera problem. Are the stripes just on the screen or are they actually on the pictures when you download them to a computer or try to print them? If just on the screen, the screen may be cracked or the ribbon cable connecting the screen to the motherboard may be dislodged. Can you review previous (before the fall) pictures and can you see the menu items without stripes?...If so, then the screen is ok and the problem is deeper inside the camera.

I have a Nikon D3000 digital camera. When I turn it on the info menu is displayed on the monitor and I cannot see the image that I am shooting. When I turn the info menu off it turns black and says...

That is the factory setting. If had seen the image on the LCD before taking the picture, then there was something seriously wrong with the camera. The D3000 works as SLRs have worked for over half a century, providing you with a viewfinder to compose your photos.

Nikon d3000 Trying to preview the photo prior to clicking the picture. Display only shows a black screen until I click.

On most new DSLR cameras, you must activate "live view" to see the picture on the screen before you take it. Check your manual.

From the Nikon site, do you have one of these flash units.
Support for the Nikon Creative Lighting System when using SB-900, SB-600, or SB-400 Speedlights, or the SU-800 Wireless Speedlight Commander
If so You set the flash mode to "comander" the pop up flash must be UP

This Video by Nikon shows how but you will have to read the manual to get a full description go to the flash section http://www.nikondigitutor.com/eng/d300s/index.html

I have a nikon d3000. At first I was able to look through the LCD monitor and see what I was going to shoot, but now it just stays a black screen.

The Nikon D3000 does not have a Live View mode that allows you to see what you're going to shoot in the LCD screen. If you thought you saw something, my best guess is that you were mistaken.
