How do i bypass the ink cartridge error on the hp Deskjet F4480? It is saying ink cartridge not compatible but it is a genuine cartridge. And E is displayed on the screen and the light is flashing. How can...

These types of severe cartridge errors (i.e. "refer to documentation" / "incompatible cartridges", etc.) typically indicate the internal micro-electronics of the HP #60-61 cartridge are electrically damaged - now, these errors can be bypassed on select printer models (temporarily). The cartridge's electrical wire runs at rear and lower side of the ink cartridge, are very delicate and are somewhat susceptible to ink attack over time, which can lead to premature failures. In addition, the older the cartridge the higher the chance of an internal electrical failure due to prolonged ink exposure and subsequent circuit corrosion. I suggest you always run a 'Tap 41' diagnostic test to check cartridges electrical health (this is a forced test); you may also bypass the error (temporarily) on C4600-C4700 models which use HP 60 cartridges. Empty cartridge warning

Most problem experienced with hp photosmart c6180 is the yellow catridge error. Try cleaning the contact surface of the catridge and the printer using moistened cotton buds..if error continues, you should clear the error that keeps on displaying.. here's how: press & hold "*" key...while holding, press "#" key and then release both keys..."Enter Special Key Combo" will be displayed...press "1", "2" and "3" to display "Support"...press ">" right arrow button and release when "System Config Menu" appear....press "OK" and/or arrow key to display "Hardware Failure Status"...press "OK"....when "Hardware Failure Status:Clear" appeared, press "OK" to clear...press "OK" again to display "Hardware Failure Status Cleared. Press Cancel To Continue".....press "CANCEL" as many times to display "Welcome To Photosmart Express" or "Ink System Failure".....the last part is to turn off the printer and unplug at the back...wait for 30 sec, then plug and turn on the printer...if asked, press "OK" to continue and allow the "One Time Ink Initialization" to procede..After this try to print...

Left ink cartridge incorrect. It is the right ink

A trick which may work is cleaning the contacts on both the cartridge and the printer.

Make sure you've switched it off first, I'd try gently buffing with a soft dry cloth first.

HP reccommend using distilled water and cotton buds, but not alcohol based cleaning fluids.

Allow the water to evaporate before replacing cartridge and switching on.

I refill my own cartridges. Printer says "Black Ink Low". I tried the "tape over the contacts" trick but it didn't work. How do I clear this error without having to cycle 2 other cartridges through it?

Use the fairy new cartridges offered by HP.
I realize they cost more but if there is a problem there is a warranty available from HP on their product.

The first thing refilled cartridges do for you is to cause any remaining warranty on the printer to be canceled.

Another benefit of refilled cartridges is most often poor print quality. Then of course, you can get stuck in the "Check ink level" or "Incorrect ink cartridge"

Refilled cartridges are not worth the time and effort you put into them, but hey that's just my humble opinion. I have seen firsthand what the damages can be with junk ink.

The ink warning light flashes, and won't go off, even after I've put a new cartridge in. I've unplugged the printer, turned it off and on, plugged the cable back in, and it won't go off.

A blinking orange light means an empty or incorrectly installed ink cartridge. Ensure that the cartridge is not empty or dried out. Also be sure you installed the number 45 black and number 78 tri color cartridges. The 41 tri-color, for example, looks the same but would generate an error. Also, check that the panel in the back, or duplexer if you have one, is seated firmly in the printer as this can generate odd errors.

Left Cartidge incorrect

Hi, remvoe the black ink cartridge , dip the cartridge in luke warm water for 30 secs , clean the cartridge and unplug the power adapter from the printer , wait for a minute and then reconnect it back , put back the cartridge and then look for the error msg , if it stil displays the same error then its an issue with the cartridge and needs to be replaced..
Do lemme know if it helps..

DELL AIO 922- All in one- Printer won't print

Remove the right ink cartridge (color). You will get an error saying the cartridge is empty, but ignore that. Hit cancel on your printer. Print your job...when your print screen comes up, under preferences check the box for print colors in black and white. Your printer should print just fine without the color cartridge. Ignore the flashing red light.
