The VIA website has many feature that can assist you with installing the correct drivers. This particular board uses the AC'97 sound controller, but VIA may have modified it to use a different set of system resources. The VIA drivers arena has an ActiveX scanner that will diagnose the problem for you. The first thing to do would be to remove the Audio Controller from the Device Manager. This will remove the current driver that you have. With the driver vacant, and before restarting, go to the VIA support site, and run their driver scan. Be careful not to use one that is an advertisement.
