Top Load Maytag Neptune Washer

There was a pool of water under my washer this am--I did a load last night but did not notice the water until this am--there was no water around the hoses that provde water to the machine--it appears as though the leak is coming from the bottom--perhaps several gallons of water on the floor

Water on the floor, not due to hoses.Maytag repairman has told me repairs would cost $1200.00 if I didn't have a contract. The last time this happened a year ago it was $800.00. He said I MUST USE hot water all the time! I have always used HE detergent and been careful with load size. I have been doing laundry for over 30 years with several Maytag machines. This model sounded great and so I was williing to pay extra for it. I now believe it is a LEMON.

I have only had my washer for 18 month and I have had a few other problems ironically 13 months after the purchase, now I am noticing the puddles under my machine. There has to be a reason, I can not afford a repair man nor am I willing to damage my clothing washing it in hot water all the time! Please help if anyone has any further advice or suggestions! I am really dissapointed in this product :(

i am having the same problem with the pool of water coming from the underneath of the washer. Does any one know how to fix it? Or what are the parts that are defected? If anyone has any clue please email me. Thank you and have a blessed day.

After having a repairman in, the problem was diagnosed as the clutch, even if I fight with Maytag to cover the parts since my machine is now 26 months old and 2 months past the parts warranty, the cost to cover the labor alone is more then to replace the machine.

This model is a lemon and Maytag will not stand behind thier product. I am dissaponted and will never buy thier products again. With a family of six and still making payments on this machine I had to borrow the money to buy a new machine. Our Maytag is now sitting in the garage. Seems a shame to throw out a $1,000 washer, I may strip it and sell the parts on Ebay to try to pay off the original credit card debt!

Good luck to the rest of you!

If water shuts off when it is supposed to, then the leak is most probably from the drain pump hose connection or the pump itself. If it doesn't shut off when it should then there is either a faulty water valve or a bad water level pressure switch.

Hello i am a appliance repair man. do you was a lot of sandy cloths? what is happened is your seals are bad on the washer. i bet the sales men told you when you bought it that you could fill it plum full. its not true. i have seen this machine in and out of my shop so many times its not funny. by the way if you do fix it please put a surge protector on your machine. trust me it will save you more headaches. if you have any more questions feel free to email me at next time you buy an appliance call a repair man and ask them what kind of problems that the appliance has first.

Pull the washer 120VAC power cord. Does water continue to flow into the machine?

If yea you have a Stuck Open water valve. If know then you may have a stuck pressure switch.

Are you going to try to DIY the repair? Further troubleshooting will be required.

Water between the drum even when not on

Water between the drum is a common problem with not only front load but top load as well.
Front load washers such as the neptune have an airtight/water tight door which will hold moisture in the machine when closed. Try opening door and keep open between loads. In addition, a monthly cleaner specific for the front load machine will help this problem

Water left pooled inside maytag neptune front loading washer

Possible explanation: Some water is left in the hose going up to the drainpipe b/c the pump can only pump water with water, not air... so when the last bit of water is sucked up, it 'stays' just the other side of the pump exit nozzle and keeps the drain tubefilled. This water gradually leaks thru the drain exit valve and back into the machine, sometimes siphoning standing water in the drain trap with it.

The valve is either electric solenoid or plastic/rubber clapper in a cylinder. Your call whether to fix or not depending on ease and cost. Probably a $20.00 part.

Washer leaking water on floor

Need to check drain pump and its hose connections. If its not from the drum seal then that's usually where the leaks occur.

Spin Option

The problems posted by kim875 and kirsty2 all seem to be the result of faulty signals from the electronic board. This seems to be a real problem with this model machine. I would try to get board replaced under warranty , if at all possible.
