Turn the tv on. Hook up your components, turn them on, go in to tv menu and auto program the stations. It will see that there is a signal on channel 3 and lock it in for you.

Trying to set up my new elements tv with a uverse wireless box. Did a channel scan but still can't find any channels. Help please!!

Is this a high def tv? Are you using an hdmi cable, component cable(red green & blue) or a low def coax cable to connect the tv? If coax, the tv needs to be on channel 3 or 4. If hdmi or component cable is used you need to change your input on the tv with your remote to the matching input you wired it to. The uverse stb (set top box) changes the actual channels once you have selected the correct input.

Tv plays cable in black and white but plays dvds in color. What is the issue?

Try changing the channel on the TV to 3. Most cable boxes change everything to channel 3.

Hi My matsui tv 1409T remote died (due to battery leakage!) so I have got a signalex universal remote as a quick fix replacement. I have set the remote to switch the tv on/off, change channel and adjust...

1) Change the batteries by alkalines
2) Retight the springs contacts with plyer for better contacts.
3) clean the contacts with special spray contacts.
4) Downloa the code or proceed with your instruction manual.
5) If the problem persist, you must return you remote control and buy other from Radio Shack I am recommending.

God bless you

What channel does the tv have to be on to play a dvd?

That will depend of how you're connecting the DVD player to your TV. If your connecting via Coax cable (threaded screw type), then it'll be channel 3 or 4. If you're connecting via AV (3 round connectors), then the channel will be "input... AV". If you'e connecting via Component (5 round connectors), then the channel will be "input... Component". If you're connecting via HDMI (small flat D-shaped connector), then the channel will be "input... HDMI". See a pattern?

We have an antenna. Can't get Ch 3 on this tv to use our vcr/cd.

If you did a channel scan to build the channel list, the up/down channel will never bring you to 03, but you should be able to manually add the channel through the on screen menu system.
Alternately, simply punching in 03 (or 003) on the remote should force the TV to tune in channel 3.
Be sure the vcr is tuned to channel 3 as well, some are 3/4 switchable and default to channel 4 not 3.
A last resort if you can't get any of those to work is to get a cable splitter and run it in reverse with the 2 ended side going to the antenna and vcr and the single side going to the TV and doing another channel scan while the vcr is playing.

If none of these work, I'd need to know more about exactly how everything is hooked up.
ie - if the VCR is hooked into the component input on the TV, you need to switch the TV to A/V or composite or component rather than channel 3 etc. etc.

I want to play my plug-n-play on my Sylvania 13" TV, but i can't find the right input. How do i set it up for audio and video?

Which plug-n-play unit do you have? The ones I know use RCA A/V ports (called composite video by some). The TV you listed has front A/V ports according to the specs. If this is true for you, you need (if it wasn't included) either an A/V cable with 3 RCA plugs on each end or two cables (one video (one plug on each end) and one audio (2 plugs on each end). The plugs are usually colored yellow for video and white and red for audio. Just match the colors on both the cable and the TV and the plug-n-play.

Otherwise you will need some sort of a converter (component video to RF or component video to composite video). Both are available at many stores (like Radio Shack) and online. Component video has 3 plugs (Y, Pb, Pr - red, green and blue is a common designation) on each end just for the video. You also need the A/V audio cable mentioned above.

The final thing you need to do is change the source to the input in question. I'm not sure on this TV if it has a source or input button on the remote. On some older TVs you switch sources by changing the channel down from 2 or up from the last available channel. (This assumes you haven't hidden any channels that didn't have a signal previously.) Some universal remotes don't have a compatible source button.

I hope this helps.

I cannot seem to get my vcr to play and I 've hooked up all the proper cables to the tv including what is required on the direct tv receiver

It may not be on the right channel. If you hooked in up by RCA cables (the red, yellow, & white colors) then you will have to change the TV to the correct input. Look next to where you plugged the cables in and it should say input? where the "?" is replaced with a number. Either use a button on the TV or your remote that says "TV/Video" or "input" to change to that input. If it is the old single black cord (which I doubt) then it will be either channel 3 or 4.

Good luck

The Zenith Digital TV Converter DTT900 needs reprogramming

1) While pressing & holding down the TV POWER button, press CHANNEL UP or CHANNEL DOWN repeatedly until your TV is turned on or off. 2) Release the TV POWER button when your TV is turned on or off. *Each press of the channel button sends a manufacturer code (1-45) to your TV, one after the other. Note: You may have to do this every time you change or remove the battery, as the remote will reset itself to the default code.
