On my machine which is identical to this one I have to press and hold the stop button to end the programme and then turn off and unplug the machine to reset it. Following this run a spin only cyle(M) to get rid of the water.
Once the machine has drained and ended the M cycle try the door again. If this fails unplug the machine wait for a few seconds and then plug it in again and turn the program knob to any programme but do not start it running, just try the door it should open.
If all this fails it may be a problem with the contacts for the electrical stage of the door release or a faulty door lock.
Good luck, Al

Wait at least three minutes after the end of the cycle before attempting to unlock your Whirlpool washer. The door will not unlock until the motor speed equals 0 and 180 seconds have elapsed since the motor control unit received the "Stop" command. If the water in the washer is warmer than 122 degrees Fahrenheit or the water level is set higher than Wool, Delicate or Hand Wash, the washer must drain before the door latch will unlock 2 Hold down the "Control Lock" button on your Whirlpool washer for three seconds at the end of the washing cycle. Listen, and when you hear the unlatching sound, the door should open.3 If your Whirlpool washer did not unlock at the end of Step 1, press and hold the "End of Cycle" button for five seconds to manually reset your washing machine.4 Unplug your Whirlpool washer and leave it unplugged for 45 minutes. After 45 minutes, plug your washer back in. The washer's programming should be reset and the door should open.5 Manually unlock the door of your Whirlpool washing machine. Make sure to unplug the appliance before completing the manual unlock. Use a screwdriver to remove the metal strip, called the toe panel, at the bottom of the washing machine. Once you've removed the toe panel, reach up inside the front panel of the washer and feel around for the door latch. Locate the tear-drop shaped tab at the bottom of the door latch and pull it gently. When you hear a click, the door should open.
It sounds like the timer is defective. You may need to call a Maytag sales and/or service center and ask them what to do. WIll the washer start a new cycle?? If so start a new cycle and swee if the machine will get past this sticking point next time.
Not sure if you're unable to open the door AFTER you stop the cycle. That may be normal operation as a safety measure (won't open until after your cycle has completed). However, if your model DOES allow for opening the door during cycle operations then your electronic door lock may be defective.
hi have you tried turning machine off at plug for a min then power back on put on a cycle press start. wait till it starts to fill and press stop and hold down the reset button till it beeps and wait till door unlocks. Or a quick way to open the door is unclip the foot kick stopper at bottom front of machine and pull the emergency door open which is a thing peace of hanging plastic. if none of this works try starting a cycle then press stop soon as it starts to fill and turn off on machine not at plug. hope this helps.

f22 is a door lock error try this hit cancel turn your dial to another setting, hit start and once it starts hit cancel again and it should unlock. thats what i did anyway. If you're getting an F22 error, you will want to check anything to do with the door latch switch.
