I have a Linsky WRT546 Di-604. It has been in use for a while and probably does not have the security set up right because unautherized people are logging on to it. How do I make it secure...explain in simple terms because I am not very computer literate.

The easiest thing to do is follow step 6 in the following link:

http://www.columbia.edu/acis/networks/aptnet/linksys/index.html

Just make sure your computer matches the security string on the access point.

The example is for WEP which is less secure but you can follow those steps for stronger security such as WPA-PSK/AES

the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

My router d-link DI-604 is constantlya unplugging... and disconnecting from internet

Check you have the latest firmware and also check you haven't set idle time out (it should be 0 = always on)
Also see if there are other routers in the vicinity especially n-routers which will knock it offline so you should change the channels.

Hi, My d-link dl-604 suddenly stopped working. When I plug it in, only the power led and #4 lights are up. None of the other leds are responding nor the internet is not working as well. Please help. Thanks

The following reset procedure will completely restore the default settings on your D-Linkmag-glass_10x10.gif device including your password. This procedure applies to the DI-514, DI-524, DI-604, DI-614+, DI-624, DI-754, DI-764, DI-774, DI-784, DI-804V, DWL-700AP, DWL-800AP+, DWL-900AP+, DWL-1000AP+, DWL-2000AP, DWL-2100AP, DWL-6000AP, DWL-7000AP, and DWL-7100AP.

Step 1 Locate the reset pinhole on the back of the unit.

Step 2 With the unit powered on, press and hold the Reset button.

Step 3 Hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds.

Step 4 Release the Reset button.

Step 5 The unit will reboot. Allow 20-30 seconds before reconnecting.

Step 6 The device is now at factory defaults.

Note: Do not recycle power during the reset procedure.

The default user name for most D-Link devices is admin and the password is left blank.

Hope this helps! Give me thumbs please!

Unable to get to configuration on DSL-G604T

to get the settings for the route and find the address do the following

right click on the network computers in the system tray (bottom right hand corner)

then open the network center
then click on local area connection then go details

the address of your router is next to the IPv4 Defualt Gateway *.*.*.*

now type this into your browser and you should be at you settings page

easier way is to check the bottom of the modem itself and there should be a ip address just enter that into your browser

Want to know about "dynamic dhcp client list" in a D_Link DL-604

they stay in the list for a set amount of time... that is based on the "lease time" that has been configured for ip addresses.

Lost security key

You will have to do a factory reset on the router. These is a small reset button on the back (you have to press is with a pen). Hold down the reset button while unpluging and pluging back in the router. This will reset the security settings and allow you to start over from scratch.

D-link DI-604 installing

The 192.168.0.1 was probably changed when it was first set up. To return it to default settings take a paper clip and insert it in the reset hole in the back of the router.

Give it a few moments to reboot and the 192.168.0.1 address should work.
