You only need the Ethernet if you want to connect to a network. If you can not get the onboard ethernet to work, you can always use a USB adapter. By the way, have you downloaded the drivers from nVidia?

FROM WHERE CAN I DOWNLOAD WINDOWS XP SP2 LAN DRIVER FOR HP PROLIANT ML110 G6

Hi ppswalia

Since this is a Server, rather than an ordinary Desktop computer, it is not designed to work with normal Windows XP Operating Systems. It is designed to work specifically with Windows, Unix and Linux Server Applications. See here:

http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/DriverDownload.jsp?prodNameId=3577715&lang=en&cc=us&taskId=135&prodTypeId=15351&prodSeriesId=3577708

There are 2 things you can try.

You can try installing the LAN/Ethernet Drivers for the various Windows Server versions from the above official HP Downloads and Drivers Support Website and see if one of them just happens to coincidentally be compatible with XP SP2.

Assuming there are no further compatibility issues between other Server Motherboard Devices and Win XP SP2 Drivers, you could open the Server case and either bypass any on-board LAN/Ethernet/NIC Port or remove any separate LAN/Ethernet/Network Card installed and install, instead, a pre-confirmed Win XP compatible LAN/Ethernet/NIC Card and then install the drivers for the new card.

I hope this helps.

Check your Ethernet device in device manager option. Click on the "Network adapter" option in device manager. Now re-install with your motherboard installation disc or click on "Update driver" option, it will automatically run and fix your problem.

I want to connect my pc to internet but dose not have any icon in the network connection my cable operator said that i shuld install ethernet driver which i dont have, plz suggest

You should be able to find the ethernet driver on the manufacturer's website. If you can't find it, you could consider using a driver finder program to automatically find the right driver.

Check your Device Manager afterwards to make sure the network device is working properly.

E-MU 1616. Problem installing drivers

"I am running windows XP proffessional 5.1 on a HP (compaq) dc7600.
Could this be the problem?"

It could be. Bring up your system properties box (Windows key + Pause/Break key). Is that the version shown at the top right on the GENERAL tab?

Is there some reason you have not installed service pack 2 or 3? Of course if you're running an illegal copy of Windows you can't, but I mean any legitimate reason? If we can eliminate the problem with installing the latest service packs we can move forward.

Ethernet not working after format and xp reinstall

Right-click the My Computer icon and select Manage, then go to the Device Manager in the list on the left and find the Network Adapter from the list on the right, right-click Network Adapter and select Uninstall. When you reboot, XP should find the Adapter and reinstall it automatically. Another reboot may be required.

If it still will not connect, go to the NIC Manufacturer's website and download the driver to removable media. The Driver Update option can be accessed in the Device Manager, but this time select Properties when you right-click the Network Adapter, and go to the Driver tab.
