Lasko Tower Fan stopped working but Speed switch has power on all but one cable, How to find the issue?

The Fan was working fine. Suddenly the Power button started to have issues, sometimes you have to press it multiple times to make it work. Then one day stopped to work completely. I opened the Fan and checked the power cord, it has power (I used a Screwdriver Tester). Then followed the power cord inside the fan and it has power too. Followed the white cover with the six cables that goes up to the Power/Speed switch. If the power button is pressed all but one cable have power, the Grey one shows no sign of power at all. There is a small fuse, like a small glass bulb near the conection of the red cable to the switch board but it looks ok. I will like to hear your opinions before trying anything else. Any help will be apppreciated. Thanks

You should only have power on the black wire into the switch. The white wire feeds straight through. the switch breaks the black and routes it to one of the three outputs for the motor.

Why will my fan not work the lights both come on.

It could be a bad connection or corrosion on the wiring connectors. I would suggest that you unplug the electrical cord to inspect the fan motor connectors, they should be tight and free of debris. If you had a meter you could check for voltage at fan motor but would have to plug in to power to do so so be very careful not to touch other contacts while performing the check. If you are not comfortable or experienced with electrical work I suggest that you take the unit in for repair or buy a new unit which may be best depending on the age of the unit. The fan motor is likely bad or it could be a switch./Difficult to say without properly diagnosing.

I have an ecoquest flair that the fan won't run.

bad capacitor in the control head..if you run it at full speed, you may be able to run it hardwired(but it becomes a safety issue) may need it replaced..

I have a 42" wind

the first thing to check is that the remote control is working and the control panel of the fan itself are working probably and i think they did but you have to check first
this fan oscillating control button is not a mechanical connection like the regular fan so if you are not using it wrong(and i think you don`t ) an if all the buttons are working -except the oscillating function - (and i think they are ) turn that thing back and test it at the shop

My Lasko 42" Wind Curve fan when I plug it don't power up. Pluged at diferents outlets, same results Thank you

Hi,
Check out the cord, (frayed or broken) usually right where it enters the unit, and the switch.... if these check out then the motor has gone bad...

How do you clean the ionizer in a lasko wind curve

You have to take the fan apart. They didn't design it with the convenience of the customer who likes to keep things clean in mind, so you have to get out a bunch of screwdrivers and stuff and roll around on the ground and fight with it until you get it apart. I posted a lengthy post on how to get this model apart, as I just did mine yesterday. Just look for my name on the Lasko models like this one. But be careful and don't try it if you don't think you can pull it off without getting hurt.

How do i clean a lasko tower fan model 2551 as it is dusty inside

best is if you have an air compressor and blow it out, if not, a paintbrush and vacuum will do. remove grill/cover if you have to. make sure unit is un plugged.

Alpine XL-15 fan has stopped working

Hello night light,

How you proceed is going to depend on how comfortable you are taking it apart.

Given it's age and purchase condition, warranty isn't an issue. You will either be able to dis-assemble the purifier and try taking the motor apart and reassembling, or you can find a replacement motor (I've seen some on the web, they start at ~$50).

Another possibility is that the fan pot (the rotary switch that the knob turns to adjust the fan speed) may be out. If you have a multi-meter, see if you can get a signal through (when it's all the way open). If not, try replacing that first. Parts are available onthe web, I can't advertise per FixYa's terms of use.

Hope this helps.
