PT-61HX42F turns off and red light flashes 4 times

Panasonic PT-61HX42F turns off and the red light flashes 4 times. If you unplug it from the wall and, some minutes after, replug it and turn it on. It will play for around an hour and do the same thing again. But If you unplug it from the wall, put a fan on behind it and, some minutes after, replug it and turn it on. It will play all day long. Can I have the service code setup to replace the defected part?

Muzzi. the unit is 7 years old. Loss of money to ship it to manufacturer repair center. It will be a life savior if I get the service code setup for red light flashing and do it myself.

    Using the remote control:

  • Press the {MENU} button.
  • Press "Setup" menu.
  • On "Mode" menu, select "Cable"
  • Select "Timer" menu and set sleep timer to 30 min.
  • Press {ACTION} twice to exit menus.
  • Tune to channel 124.
  • Press and hold {VOL -} button ON THE TV.

"CHK" appears in on top-left corner followed by 5 letter/numbers
(which are the cumulative hours in hex numbers)

  • While the "CHK" is displayed, press the {ACTION} & {VOL+} buttons
ON THE TV simultaneously to toggle between Modes:

    — Red "CHK" for Serviceman — Yellow "CHK" for Aging —

  • Press the {POWER} button on the remote to select one of the six
    Serviceman Adjustments Modes.

    A. MTS ADJUSTMENT
    B. CLOCK ADJUSTMENT
    C. VIDEO ADJUSTMENT
    D. HDEF ADJUSTMENT
    E. VDEF ADJUSTMENT
    F. DAF ADJUSTMENT
    G. OTHER ADJUSTMENT

  • Press {CH+} {CH -} on the remote to select the settings
on each of Service Adjustment Modes.

Write down the original values before modifying anything.
It's easy to erroneously adjust the wrong item.

  • Press {VOL+} {VOL -} on the remote to change values.

  • Press the {POWER} button on the TV to exit the service menu

Panasonic PT-61HX42F shuts off automatically red light flashes, but before that happened the green color was way off

One of the convergence output IC's has died. However, when one goes the other is soon to follow so any good repair shop will insist on changing both of them. This is a common failure with all projection tv's as these amps work real hard and have a high failure rate. Average repair cost is usually between $200 and $300.
