My front speakers are working fine but I had to wrap my mute cable as it was grounding out and when I put it all back in both my back speakers don't work. What could this be? I've already checked all the wiring.

If a cable speaker is shorted to ground or (in your case) the short was on the casing the radio mutes the output to save the amp. So
remove all cables and put them back to the radio & connect the speakers one by one to see if it works or mutes again
The chimes an turn signal noise come out driver door speaker . Both front speakers not working could be a blown circuit fuse inside the radio or just blown front speaker channel . Your best bet , take it to a GM dealer or someother qualified repair shop . You have no idea of the complexity of this . The radio can set DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes , believe it or not !

Each of the audio output channel circuits (+) and (-), at the radio and audio amplifier have a DC bias voltage that is one half of the battery voltage. When using a DMM, each of the audio output channel circuits will measure approximately 6.5V DC. The audio being played on the system is produced by a varying AC voltage that is centered around the DC bias voltage on the same circuit. The AC voltage is what causes the speaker cone to move and produce sound. This voltage will vary depending on what type of audio is being listened to, talk or music, and type of music, as well as the volume setting of the system. Low volume and talk settings will measure around 1V AC and less, where constant music may measure 3V AC and slightly higher.

The radio provides a remote amplifier mute output circuit to control overall muting of the remote amplifier. The amplifier receives pulse width modulated (PWM) signals on the control circuit at varying duty cycle percentages for controlling muted and unmuted functions of the amplifier. Circuitry internal to the radio monitors the remote amplifier mute circuit for faults and sets the appropriate DTC when faults are detected.

Radio Constant 12V+ Wire: Orange yellow
Radio Ignition Switched 12V+ Wire: Yellow red
Radio Ground Wire: Black/White black
Radio Illumination Wire: Gray/Black orange/white
Left Front Speaker Wire (+): Tan white

For this last wire, access the back of the parking brake to find a switch with a blue wire. Peel some insulation from the wire and wrap the stripped end of a 3 foot piece of 16 or 18 gauge wire around the stripped section. Solder and wrap the connection with electrical tape, route the wire to the jvc, then strip and solder the other end to the pigtail of the head unit.
If you are also installing a camera seeing behind you when backing, you will need to run a wire to the back-up light on the driver side reverse light (light green) wire along with your video cable.
Are you have the headphones and speakers both pluged in? When you plug in headphones the speakers get muted. You need to change your sound settings back to your sound card if you use usb headphones. The plug on the front of the 4700 also automatically mutes the speakers.
Could have a loose connection in the audio section or a problem with the output IC . Also does this happen on the RF input and your A/V inputs or just one of these. If its the A/V inputs only your having this problem check your cables .
I just did this last week, i had the same problem all you have to do is grab some speaker wire and wrap it arround the RCA's(around the metal or gold piece outside the RCA) that go to your voice AMP and then ground the speaker wire(the one you wraped the rca's with). this will work. NO Noise filter will work cus I tried it
go to start -> control panel -> sound and audio devices. in the volume tab, speaker settings area click advance. make sure the speaker setup is 5.1 .if not, select 5.1 and click ok. now cilck advance in device volume area. u should c a volume slider for rear and front speakers. if u dont c the volube slider, click options->properties.in the show the volume controls section put tick on the rear and front boxes. clik ok. and check weather they are not mute and increase the rear and fron volume to a decent lavel. there may be also sound card specifi settings that might need to be re-configured if this does not work let me know the name and model of ur sound card.
